Re: What is a Kill?

If you knock down the enemy you always will get the kill no matter how much damage you did. So last hit = knock down = kill, except you get killed yourself while your victim is knocked down, then the one who kills / finishes him will get the kill count.

Finish moves will not give you the kill if someone else knocked the enemey down.

You will get an assist always as soon as you did damage to the killed enemy no matter how much damage.

So get your * hands off of the knocked down people, they won´t get you kills / the kills can´t be stolen from you. Just ignore them and focus on the left overs who are still able to fight back or revive them. No reason to try kill stealing in this game... not possible.

Conclusion: If you knock down - you get the kill except you get killed yourself, if you do damage in the fight but don´t knock them you will get an assist, if you damage a knocked down enemy or kill a knocked down enemy you didn´t knock down yourself, you will get an assist (assists are nowhere to be shown so ignore assists as well, you can not show them off)

Edit: I think it´s needless to say that not every person you knock down will also die, because some people will get revived. So yeah, sometimes you deal tons of damage but don´t get the last hit or people get revived after you knocked them... can be frustrating but also very rewarding if you get in a fight with 3-4 teams,  knock down a few people in the fight and then when the last get killed you suddenly see a few kills pop up in one second :D

Edit 2: Not sure what happens if an enemy knocks down another enemy and you finish it. Not 100% sure if you would get the kill or the enemy. But in your own squad you can not killsteal. So you always will get the kill if you knocked down and your squad mate finishes or the other way around.

  • Great post and great explanation, i must confess I was remaining confused in silence as i thought I was just being stupid!

Now I also understand why one of my... lets politely say immature friends goes around killing all downed guys before trying to revive us or get tags - and ends up with 2-3 kills more than the rest of our party.... 😠

@XPielRojaX you are not right. I just tested it. If you knock down someone, you get only 100 damage points, no kill.
  • @ankhax  Sure, knock down doesn´t mean kill. But if you knock down someone and he later gets killed by another member of your squad, you will get the kill. You just have to get the last hit to knock someone and then be alive / not knocked down yourself to get the kill.

From what I've been able to tell, If you knock down someone, and then they get executed, BY ANYONE, you receive the kill. Regardless of you're current status (downed, or executed, unless the entire squad dies.) you will get that kill as long as someone you downed, is executed.

As for getting the knockdown, you simply have to be the last hit to bring the person down. Even if your squad does 99.99% of the damage to the target, if you shoot them for that last .01% you get the down, and the potential for a kill if they are ever executed.

As for assists, as far as I can tell, as long as you do damage to a target before it is downed (regardless of how much) you will receive an assist. If you execute a downed player that you did not down, you will get an assist.

@MechaDraco Pretty sure you do not get kills for people you knocked down, if you get knocked down or die by yourself after you knocked it. But I will double check it next time the situation happens.

    The rest ist correct.

I have gotten several kills while being downed. The main key is you simply can't leave the game, and the person you downed, can NOT be brought back up. If the guy you down gets brought back up at all, the kill moves to whomever downs them next. I may be wrong on the getting them while being dead, but I know for a fact you can still get them while downed.
  • Hey Apex Family,

    Excellent explanation @XPielRojaX !!!  and excellent question @mindlesspuppet !!

You both cleared up a lot of questions for me.  I am now clear as crystal on how kills are registered and even shared this thread information with my friends.

Good stuff guys.  I look forward to gaming with or against you guys soon.  😉
