Re: What made YOU quit apex?

@HappyHourSumwurI will say that Apex has made me learn to think of weapons, grenades, and abilities in a whole new way, to make them work seamlessly together, not just my abilities, but those of my teammates as well.

But I find myself increasingly interested in starting a match only to walk away from it feeling like, "why?"

Why did I bother? My teammates didn't do anything like they should have. No team work at all.

Why did I come to their rescue? They quit before I could get their banner and that left me vulnerable.

Why did I choose to play Apex and not Halo? Because its the new toy and it feels a bit more expansive emotionally than Halo. But more and more, Halo feels like a solid experience. I went back to Halo and my team sucked, but they tried. They honestly tried. That was so refreshing.

I am increasingly convinced that the lack of team work thinking randoms are the only thing that makes Apex feel like I waste my time.

When it comes to the whole Halo vs. Apex thing, or more succinctly, arena shooter vs. battle royale, I think @HappyHourSumwur put it best:

"Strategic skills like positioning, aggressiveness, engage/retreat, healing/shields, crafting etc. all play a role in this game, too [in addition to gun and motion skills] and honestly I feel it makes it the most complex FPS game I've ever played."

I loved Halo for twenty years, but it wasn't until I started playing battle royale, first with PUBG, then Apex, that I realized how many things I hate about the arena shooter formula.

But you're definitely right to notice how hard it is to get three players on the same page in battle royale, and how relatively easy it is to get the team working together in Halo. It's just a simpler game where players have a lot less lattitude to try different things. The team's almost always on the same page because there really isn't any other page to be on.

That is what is refreshing to me. I think you got what I was saying.

I think Halo as an arena may have something to do with it. There isn't much else, no exploration, no loot (at least not on the same scale), just team work.

  • Masters and Preds in my bronze lobby. That’s pretty much it. I couldn’t take another match where that’s all I see at the end. Not another team of equal skill. I never found fights anymore that I actually trade hits and move positions. I expect ranked to be sweaty but not overmatched.

@liber8mymadne55 I like level 20 and I'm seeing them in mine too. Also people are flying through the air like birds in those lobbies.
