Why are top 20 players in all my games

My K/D ration this season is less than .35

Yesterday, I died to the 12th best player in Apex. 

Just now, I died to the 6th best player in Apex. 

To elaborate:

My skill level: I've never been able to get past gold. And I tried my best. Most seasons I get bronze. My overall K/D ratio is around .56. this season is . 35. Most my issue is that my Internet is beyond slow. But I'm also very bad. My goal is and has been for a long time to actually get a 2K damage badge. 2,354 hours in the came and I can't even get one. 

Things I experience due to bad interest: nothing works. Skills don't work. I get stuck in fencing and Sheila all the time. Enemies run right through damaging abilities nearly always. When I get shot, a sort of tractor beam effect happens where I'm severely slowed, and no, not due to gravity wells or arc snares or the like. Feels like that effect though, but there won't be Ashes or Horizons in game. I can't hear enemy footsteps most the time. Even if they walk up to me revving a chainsaw wearing a vest of noisemakers. Enemies get full clips before I can fire one bullet. That's not the half of it.

A few weeks ago during an event my games were FILLED with Preds and Masters. Look out the back of ship and all I see is pred trails. There was a challenge mode and I was trying to just complete the missions. That was worse than the last few days (where I died to 6th and 12th best in the world), but it's been bad overall. 

So why? Is there any matchmaking whatsoever in Apex? Why are all my games chalked full of Preds and Masters?
