I can't remember how many matchmaking buckets they were trying to implement during the big season 17 (?) matchmaking overhaul, but I think it was about six or seven. The population we have now allows for a lot less. Pubs matches with a bronze-to-predator curve are not uncommon. At all. I call that one single bucket. So even if there are two or even three buckets in ranked then there's pretty much no way for masters or preds to get a match without diamond AND platinum players to fill the lobby. And at least they're showing you what you're getting into before the match starts. Rookie, bronze, silver lobbies all show a match filled with rookie, bronze and silver players. But typically a huge percentage of the lobby is made up of platinum+ players who just haven't got to their true rank yet. Better by the second half of the season, you ask? No. No, it isn't. Because that's when all the rank locked platinum+ players start hitting their secondaries. Because why would they want to play against masters and preds when they can just start a new account and beat up on kids and new players?
Which brings me to ask: If you want to get away from these headaches then why aren't you running a secondary, or multiple secondaries, like everyone else?
