A player's self-statement

Hello, I want to share my story with Apex Legends here, and try seeking any help from staffs and other players.

I have been a loyal player of Apex Legends since Oct 2020, that was Season 7. From then, my obsession with the game has led me to spend three thousand hours on it.

In September 2023,my account was hacked once because my friend deceived me. By continuously sending emails and evidence to the TOS team, I successfully recovered my account and unblocked it after the seventh email. This is why, until now, I am still willing to believe that EA and the TOS team will give me a fair judgment. In December 2023, I left the game due to my busy life, and returned to it in February of the following year after dealing with everything.

However, when I was about to return to the game, I found that my account had been hacked again. My EA email address was changed without any notice, maybe a week, maybe a few months, and I still don't know the answer. It took me a lot of effort to get my account back, and all my identity information had been changed. When I logged into the game, the game showed that my account had been banned. I thought it was the same as last time, so I described everything and showed evidence.

But this time, the TOS team rejected my appeal twice in a row, and gave exactly the same response every time for the next ten times. I don't know the reason for the ban. I didn't receive any email when the ban happened, and the ban reason in EA help is still blank until now. But I am sure that I am innocent. I tried to seek help from the BBB team and the live streamer I knew. They gave me some suggestions but none of them worked. Since February this year, I almost wrote another email immediately after receiving a reply. So far, I have written nearly a hundred emails, but the content of each reply is still exactly the same.

Today, a customer service representative told me that he would send feedback to the game to prove my innocence. I chose to believe him, just like always. The TOS team rejected me countless times like a robot, my emotions have changed from confusion to doubt to anger and now to helplessness. But even so, I still believed that my favorite game would not let me down.

○ Why are you raising the dispute? -I am innocent, I believe EA and TOS team will give me a fair judgment
○ Did you break any game rules? -I guarantee that I have not violated any game rules in the user agreement in the more than 3,000 hours I have played
○ When was the last time did you login to play? -Mid-December 2023, from this time to late February 2024, I have never logged into my account

It's funny to say that this year, my game time has not increased, but the time I spent opening EA help and writing letters has almost reached 30 hours. Maybe, I will still be rejected by the robot this time, but deep in my heart, EA and TOS team will give everyone a fair verdict.

If it really doesn't work, maybe I will be desperate in the future. I used to sit in the game lobby, looking at my newly purchased appearances and skins, my season pass and rank in each season, and I would sit there for an entire afternoon.

Even if my ban cannot be lifted in the end, I just hope EA can allow me to enter the game lobby. I want to see my collection and achievements, recall every minute and every second of playing games with my friends, and the excitement and joy when I first reached the diamond rank.

I have almost accepted the fact that I have lost my account, but I sincerely plead that, to please let me enter the game lobby. Don't take away all my memories.

  • Unfortunately, banned and/or hacked accounts cannot be handled on the forums.

For any ban, all information about the ban should of been sent to you in an email. (You may need to check your spam folder to find this email). If you still cannot find the email, you can also check your ban history here, (but some bans may not appear here).

Only the EA TOS team will be able to help you with any banned accounts. For hacked accounts, you would have to go through EA Support instead.

You can find the EA TOS Team here.

So far, I have checked my email several times, and I am very sure that I have not received any emails about account bans. And in the My Ban History column of EA Help, the Reason item is completely blank.

In the process of sending emails to the TOS team again and again, I felt the powerlessness of an individual player and the suffocating arrogance of EA staff. They are unwilling to provide me with any details and reasons about my ban, even showing me the ban email.

I want to emphasize again that during all my playing, I fully understand and abide by any user agreement and game rules. My account was quietly stolen and banned under the full security measures, and I don’t even have the right to know even a little bit of details.

EA's neglect of players has reached such an extent that they can even ban anyone's account without any reason.

    @kaiser4160

Did you change the e-mail account associated with the Recovered hacked EA account?

Could it be that you are not getting the proper e-mails because the E-mail account was hacked as well?

Did you have 2Fa activated before your account was hacked?

Account security starts with the user.

    Account Safety

How to keep your account and hardware safe 101:

    1. Use strong passwords for you game accounts. Keep track of your game account information (ownership) and to what other accounts they are connected to.
    2. Use strong passwords for the associated E-mail account. Keep track of your E-mail accounts and what they are connected to.
    3. Do not use e-mail accounts that you cannot fully control, like those provided to you through, schools, universities, workplace and or other organizations etc. If the Org. revokes your E-mail or you leave the school, switch workplace etc and no longer have access to that E-mail you will end up having issues you do not want or need.
    4. Do not share either of these passwords with others. Keep note of your passwords in a safe place.
    5. Enable two factor identification for both the game and associated E-mail accounts.
    6. Do not let others use your game account (Friends and family alike) because if they do something wrong on your account it is still your fault, nobody wants to have a sanction on their account because somebody else did or said something wrong.
    7. Do not use internet café’s to access your account and play, you do not know what software is on the hardware there, you do not know if the hardware at the cafe has a hardware ban and this can affect your account in a negative way.
    8. I would suggest only accessing your account with your own trusted hardware, gaming on another person’s hardware brings some of the same risks as above.
    9. I would also suggest not letting others use your hardware in order to play with their account, because if they get a hardware ban on your hardware while using it, it can have a negative affect on your account.
    10. Buying used hardware comes with risks as well. The hardware could have been banned and this is not an EA problem but a problem between the buyer and the seller.
    11. Play nice with others, in other words do not de-mean, harass or bully others in Chat or over voice coms, both can be reported and that can also have a negative effect on your account.
    12. Use non-offensive user/gamer tag/club tags, if you get a warning about such change it, doing otherwise can lead to a negative effect on your account.
    13. Play fair, boosting and teaming are cheating.
    14. Play fair using cheating software or hardware is not fair and is really only cheating yourself.
    15. Do not buy and or sell accounts, do you really know what has been done with the account? What cyber info are you giving up? What risk is there that the account is bunk. What is the risk to your hardware?
    16. Re-read the Terms of Service agreement and the Terms of Sale agreement you agreed to play this game and adhere to it. https://www.ea.com/legal/user-agreement and https://www.ea.com/legal/terms-of-sale

About points 7, 8, and 9, I do know that not everyone can afford multiple hardware setups for the entire family and there is trust that has to be there, talking about the does and don’ts on the use of shared hardware should be done so everybody can enjoy what they do on the hardware and everyone can be safe.

If you believe you have been hacked take appropriate measures to secure your account and associated E-mail account https://help.ea.com/en-gb/help/account/secure-hacked-ea-account/

If you believe that a sanction (Suspension/Ban) placed on your account was by mistake you should reach out to the Terms of Service team https://help.ea.com/za/help/account/information-about-locked-or-banned-or-suspended-accounts/

I appreciate your help, however, it does not help my situation.

So, can someone actually help me, instead of citing some meaningless regulations like a bot? It has been almost a year since my ban, I sent over 60 emails to TOS, and what do I get: 60 identical robot essays.

“We received your latest message regarding the action taken on your account. We have performed all investigations possible on this issue and will not reverse the decision.

Please do not expect further responses on this matter.

Please don’t reply to this email, as we don’t monitor this inbox. If you need more help, visit our website:
    https://help.ea.com/help-home/

Think your account was locked, banned, or suspended by mistake? Follow these steps to get information on your account ban:
    https://help.ea.com/help/account/information-about-locked-or-banned-or-suspended-accounts/”

It's the exact same text every time. After nine months, I don't even know why my account was banned. Even if you spent 5 seconds to write a random word in my Ban Reason, or spent 30 seconds to send me a ban email, I wouldn't be so disappointed.

I can't help but ask EA and its employees, is this your attitude towards paying players? I spent more than 1000SGD and 3000 hours on Apex Legends, and you seem to be saying to me, "Yes, we can ban your account as long as we want, without any reason."

    @kaiser4160

As @Midnight9746 stated here on AHQ we, and that is no one here can assist you with your account issue.

"So, can someone actually help me, instead of citing some meaningless regulations like a bot? It has been almost a year since my ban, I sent over 60 emails to TOS, and what do I get: 60 identical robot essays."

"We received your latest message regarding the action taken on your account. We have performed all investigations possible on this issue and will not reverse the decision."

I get that this is upsetting however The ToS team has made a FINAL decision as you so noted. That would mean that there is nothing else to be done.

Calling Us Bots by the way is not nice and is unwarranted especially since we are providing you with what assistance we can.

Sorry, I just hope to receive some more humane texts, the robot essays from the TOS team are already cold enough.

It doesn't matter if no one can help me, I have fully understood EA's attitude towards independent players and have to accept it.

Can you not mark this topic as 'completed' or 'solved'? The problem has not been solved, put a check mark in front of the topic now is unreasonable. I hope other players can see my story.

I also hope that EA community managers or staff can see this.

Understanding the voices from the user community, especially the negative ones, may be a little harsh, but it will greatly help improve the consumer experience in the future

@kaiser4160 We see everything that gets posted here. However, we have absolutely no access to information on banned accounts or the power to act on them. The thread was marked as resolved because of that. Unfortunately, from the community standpoint and AHQ folks, there's nothing we'd be able to do to fix your ban. 😞
