A Revenant Rework

Hello everybody, I've been thinking a lot about how Revenant is hated so much right now. I really love the idea behind him, but his kit always felt weird. He has a little slingshot on his arm that shoots s P o O k Y orbs, and he for some reason gives his entire team a bonus 150 health and a free reset.. As an offensive Legend, not support or defense.

This is my attempt to make him more solitary and less oppressive, while keeping him a valuable asset to a team.

Revenant

Passive - Stalker/Predator

Revenant can climb substantially higher than other Legends, and moves faster while crouched. Upon completing a finisher, Revenant heals both armour and health.

Tactile - Marked for Death

Revenant shoots a tick from his arm, upon direct hit it disables their abilities for 10 seconds and deals 10 damage. After a short delay, the tick releases a pulse applying Marked for Death to everyone in range.

Marked for Death - Afflicted Legends take 10% more damage for 10 seconds.

Ultimate - Memento Mori

Revenant leaves a shadow in his wake, and gains Death Protection.

Death Protection - For 30 seconds Revenant cannot die. Upon being brought to 0HP he is sent back to his shadow with 30HP. During death protection Revenant has 10% damage reduction and 20% movement speed. While in death protection his abilities Stalker and Marked for Death are enhanced. If Revenant revives a downed teammate, they gain Secondary Death protection. During death protection shields are disabled.

Secondary Death Protection - For 30 seconds, Legends afflicted can not die. Upon being brought to 0HP they are sent back to Revenant’s shadow with 10HP. During death protection shields are disabled.

Enhanced Stalker - Climb 3X higher instead of 2X.

Enhanced Marked for Death - The pulse is 2X bigger, and disables abilities for 3 seconds.

  • @TheWerefloof Lmao you're basically buffing him massively. He doesn't need a buff, rather he needs a nerf because right now ranked is getting out of control with everyone using him. As it stands now you have a free extra push with no risk of dying, and then a second push with almost full health while the enemy team still has to heal. Imagine winning a fight, you're low health and a third revenant team pushes you. Somehow you manage to send them back, but you're still low hp and you can't heal yourself because they come again and kill you easily. If you ask me i don't like this meta, giving a free extra chance to push with no punishment or whatsoever is not rewarding actual skill. I'd make the ulti like it was before, when you get sent back you have like 10 hp instead of 50.

  • Hey @TheWerefloof

    It’s a cool concept but it might make him too strong and also he’d become less team oriented.

    @Cro_Pittt

    Revenant isn’t part of the competitive meta, statistics show he’s underperforming and is getting buffs soon.

    Yeah @CompleatBeet , I mostly went for making him less team oriented as being rushed by three people twice in 10 seconds with no abilities is the definition of pain sometimes, it's like a third party without the chaotic confusion on the attackers side. Nowhere near to done, I just like making concepts like this in my spare time due to Covid-19 giving me so much time on my hands. Appreciate the feedback.

  • @TheWerefloof I play rev a lot... I mean, A LOT and he doesn't need this much of a change. I honestly have always thought that he's needed a maximum climb height increase. Yes he climbs fast which gets him higher quicker, but shouldn't be slowing down this much, this quick. I do agree, however, the pulsating tick buff to his tactical sounds awesome! He's an assassin who tracks down his targets, I mean come on...
  • @Cro_Pittt Sorry, but no... You do realize that everyone is using rev because it's KC, right? The smallest of our three maps... It makes it so easy to third party. If they nerfed him for that reason, he'd be trash on WE and Olympus. I think KC is good for pub matches, but NOT ranked. And sorry to be blunt, but it sounds like you just don't know how to take on a third party that's revenant based. He's designed for third partying... Push, get a sense for the fight, get sent back and attack again knowing the propper strategy to win on the second push. I'm curious who you play though. I've found I'm better off playing characters who aren't as effected by his silence.

    @TheWerefloof

    Rev pushes aren’t annoying, people who complain just don’t know how to deal with them. He would lose a lot of competitive viability if his ultimate became something only he could use.

  • I do like the idea of healing health and shields with a finisher. Perhaps 50 health 50 shield as opposed to a full replen on both though.

    The rest of it...Meh.

    Marked for death is interesting but perhaps as a different legends ability somewhere down the line.

    @MrDef3ctive Of course i know how to deal with a revenant team, but there's not much you can do if you don't have enough time to heal yourself between the two pushes. As for WE an Olympus it works fine also there if you use Wraith or even better Octane with his last huge buff (i mean you have to use one of these legends to move fast, otherwise it wouldn't be the greatest idea to use Revenant without them lol). He isn't necessarily designed for third partying but for sure he's the best legend to do it.

    I can play more than one legend (Octane, Caustic, Horizon, Bloodhound, Wraith before her last nerf),  but i'm using more Gibby as he's a must in ranked and almost nobody wants to use him.

    I think this meta is not the best possibile and it ruins a bit ranked matches, but that's just my opinion, you can agree or disagree with it, either way i'll respect yours.

    a few things I would change
    Passive: no need for both armor and health heal. His current passive is good enough imho.

    Tactic: instead of applying to everyone I would just apply to one legend that is closest to the pulse and instead of everyone dealing more damage only Revenant would deal more damage.

    Ultimate: I think his ult shouldn't affect his teammate as I've never really thought of Revenant as a teamplayer. And instead of dropping a shadow I would change it so that he turns into a blacksmoke that can go through closed doors when he dies while under death protection gaining movement speed and becoming untargetable(except for explosions) for 5 seconds and when he turns back to normal he'll have 50% HP or less depending on how much health he had when he used his ult. He also doesn't enhance his abilities while in death protection.
