Besides its not even that strong in this game because it doesn't let you gain speed, personally I'd welcome things like traditional bunny hopping/CPMA, circle jumping and strafe jumping, probably not to the extent of something like Quake but in a way that will let you gain a little speed as a reward for your skill without it being as fundamental as in a game like Quake (purely because of the game style not because I don't like it being a fundamental in games).
Also you can crouch...

Yeah needing to learn to combo 4 different actions (that actually make no sense, whatsoever) just to perform some basic game-mechanic exploit (yeah, bunnyhopping was never an intended feature) is beyond ridiculous. Of course, ppl just make macros for it (or just refuse to "learn" it, because it IS an exploit and it IS stupid). Hitting buttons in quick repeated succession is not a "skill" I will ever support tactical shooters. Leave that for Mortal Kombat. I myself am not spending 100 hours to perfect an exploit. If there's an action in game, it should have a button dedicated to do it, not require to press a 7 button combo to fire a fireball (yeah I'm not a fan of fighting games, and I don't want them to seep into all other games).

It's not hard to do, like at all. Spend <10 minutes in the training grounds and you'll be doing it just fine.
There are no 7 button combos or whatever you're talking about either.
Hold crouch (to slide) + jump + a/d to strafe in the direction you're aiming. That is a total of, at any given moment, 3 buttons.
In this game you kinda have to hold w+a or w+d to make a full 180 but that's not even necessary. Lots of players already are comfortable with that from games like Counter Strike (it's known has HSW or half-sideways). It's a more "advanced" technique but in reality it's not any harder to do.
It's not an exploit either. If they wanted to they could easily could have removed it before launch. The devs aren't dumb, they know that bhopping is a thing in the source engine.
Also about the macros. I don't see any reason to have a macro for bhopping. What would you even make it do - spam jump? Totally unnecessary. I highly doubt many people do that as using mousewheel to jump is easy and effective enough. Space bar does just fine as well in this game.- 7 years ago

Do I care what the pro players say? Absolutely not. This guy mendokusaii is ranting on twitter right now saying avg players are "dumb bots" and so crap at the game their opinion isn't worth anything. And they shouldn't dumb down the came for casuals. Quite the elitist attitude. Thats exactly why quake died, while other games like cs survived.
IMO these pro players are paid to play w/e is popular game and its not good business sense to always cater to whatever they want. Titanfall 2 has great movement and very high skill ceiling and noone played it. But most people felt it was too hard to get into especially with players pwning them. The matchmaker they have now is excellent and I'm still hoping for a titanfall 3.
And twitter pros calling noob players bottom feeders lol. I mean wow. All things are built from the bottom up and all sports start with kids in the playground. Throwing crap against the wall can be competitive if a community took it serious enough, and paid athletes will play whatever they are told to!
Can they stop healing while sliding or jumping in apex? That would be a good compromise. But what about peacekeeper fast shot macros? or continuous melee macros? If bunny hopping has to go to get rid of them I say so be it. Sayonara.
