ALGS teams datamining the game

A bit of a drama going around the professional scene of the game in the last 24 hours. Pro players/teams are datamining the game claiming that you can get better knowledge of the ring ending. Do you think the league should prohibit teams from doing this?

As far as I know, as a person following leaks and datamined data, is that you can’t datamine where the ring will exactly end up BUT there is data where the rings would never end. Here’s an example from a thread I’ve made last February https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/Know-your-end-circle/m-p/11275850#M198809

The devs can place prohibited zones where the circle can never end on these spots of the map. There is no data where the circle will end since that’s an algorithm on the server side of things. On the other hand, you don’t really need this on the casual level since playing this game for more than 3 years you can guess where the game usually places the circle next.

A good tip for casuals or newer players is that the ring WILL NEVER END on caves or inside of small buildings (areas that have a roof). This was mentioned in one of the patch notes in a past season.

February datamine by Shrugtal which is most likely outdated at this point.

@pandareno1999 No they hire people that do. Sweet said it best. If it isn't your zone it's probably a 5 to 10% advantage. If it is your zone and your zone has only one real ending that percentage rises.

Then you have to think about the rest of the stuff that is likely mined and used. Which POIs never ever have beacons or crafters. Which POIs have the most likelihood to spawn them. And which spawn 2 mats vs 3 or 4. All of this comes into play now.
  • @Cheese9Man They did a really unfortunate listen in during NA algs yesterday where someone made fun of this when they got zone when they thought they were not going to.
  • @hayhor Like the clip I saw where the caster was making fun of someone for killing a flyer by mag dumping it, instead of just shooting it twice to get the box, when what they were actually doing was leveling their armor?  I can't say I'm too impressed with the quality of knowledge of the ALGS casting compared to, for example, OWL.

@pandareno1999 No the key to what I said was listen in. That's where their in the team they are spectatings coms. And this person is a highly controversial person.
  • @hayhor Oh, I see. I wasn't familiar with that terminology because I haven't really watched. I thought you meant you had listened in to the official stream and regretted it.   While it's neat to get team comms, this often leads to faux pas being broadcasted.  I'd give the most famous OWL example, but I think it'd be snagged by the forum's filters.

@pandareno1999 The official broadcast... oh brother. As I said once about the official broadcast: "It's GuhRL or bust!" Well, they sacked GuhRL and I haven't watched it ever since. I just watch Sabz on EMEA and Hal on NA, that's it.

@CCbathwater Gurhl was horrendous. Talked like a robot and didn't have a clue what to say. Everything felt forced.
