Not naming competitor here, but will say it's free to play on Steam. More modern than futuristic. Strikers (aka Legends/Agents) with passive and tactical abilities. Vehicles and choppers. Rocket ...

Apex may have issues but it is still a great game.

@Asmodeus566 The Finals also still a good game but way different than Apex as there's no BR mode. They're also tweaking the BP too much this season making it very hard to finish it unless you grind.

But I still like the concept & they're keeping the lore very loose so it's not a big deal in the game nor will it stagnate like the lore in Apex has with several characters.

IMO, if it isn't BR, it has no place in comparison to Apex. Therefore you make a good point.
PubG and Fortnite lack characters with skillsets, so not good for comparison either.
Similarly Battlefied 5 Firestorm, which is pretty dead, and lacks characters with skillsets.
I think Modern Combat 5 tried something like Firestorm as well.

Bloodstrike is the first one I've heard of that is actually similar to Apex. It's still in Early Access though. And is a China IP.

  @Zulkiers I think people compare Valorant (which I've never played) also. I didn't know about BF5. I was playing 2042 (which I enjoyed) but I currently don't have PS+ so I haven't played it since August.

    Valorant may have characters with abilities, but it's not a Royale. It's just 5v5 (90% of modes) or 10 man solos in one of the modes.
    BF5's Firestorm is a royale, but literally no one plays it. They prefer operations and TDMs and such.
