Apex Legendes Ranked Split resets

It is my first time playing ranked and finally reached Diamond, I was surprised to see that ranked was ending before the season actually ends. However just find out it didn't actually end, and after reading I just learned is some sort of Split Reset. I was pushed back to Gold, which is kind of annoying after reaching one level and losing some of my progress even if just a little.

I could not find clear information on how this affects my rewards If I don't play anymore or even if I play and don't reach Diamond again and the season ends and I am in gold.

I will be awarded Gold even though I reached Diamond at one point? If so, next season should I just wait till after the split to play?

Just trying to understand what is going on here.

    @PladaussHey there congrats on reaching diamond!

    In a season, rank is split into 2. This split usually happens around the collection event which marks the middle of the season (most of the time).

    You will be demoted by 1 rank and a half after the mid-season split and at the end of the season. So if you're diamond IV, you'll be demoted to Gold II. If you didn't play ranked the whole of split 2, you'll be demoted once again to silver IV.

    As for rewards, you will receive the rewards of the higher rank you reached in either season. You don't have to be diamond twice in order to get the diamond dive trail. If you reached diamond+, you'll receive a dive trail that lasts for only 1 season (ehem), a badge, and a charm. An additional reward will be given if you reached diamond+ in both splits of the season where the diamond/master/pred badge is animated unlike if you only hit diamond once.

    You'll receive your rank rewards at the start of the next season. Season 13 launches on May 10th.

    I got one new question, based on your comment.

    You said if I don't play again on split 2 I will be demoted to Silver VI.

    So, if I understood right, either on split or new season, we will always be demoted 1 rank and a half. Is that right?

    That is correct.  It's one of the reasons that people complain about smurfs in ranked (outside of the number of actual smurfs!), particularly at the beginning of a split.  If someone doesn't play ranked for a couple of seasons, they can easily decay from diamond to silver or even bronze.

    @Cheese9ManHi, if I made masters in split 1, is there a reason why I logged in today and my view stats says split 1 rank is diamond 1? i understand theres a reset but I should be reset to plat 2 not 3. was hoping I could have the masters badge since my work starts soon and I wont be able to grind this split. really need to get EA involved but they are being hesitant since its a rare bug.

    @Qtags Most probably a bug. You need to get in touch with them and show proof that you’ve reached that rank.

    I have, sent them a screenshot of my account with the masters rank (see attachment) along with what my view stats shows. their response was:

     I would like to share that currently we do not have any known performance issues in relation to concern. However, this could be an emerging problem yet to be diagnosed by ourselves or our development team so I have forwarded your report to our game team and if they determine enough customers have the same problem and the problem is technically addressable with a patch, or if a work around is possible in the game so they can furnish better game-play experience for you.

    @Qtags Not sure why they’re saying that they are not aware of the issue when it’s a well known bug addressed by developers on twitter where preds last season were given masters rewards. It seems to be more common on console. Of course the more popular streamers got their accounts fixed.

    I am a bit confused and annoyed here, I am sorry in advance if I come out wrong. I am trying to understand.

    Not sure if you gave me the wrong information or what. You said I would get the reward even if I reach it once. I did not play second spit, I reach Diamond just once, on the first split

    New season started and I got the Diamond Badge but did not get the Dive Trail, which was the main thing I was going after.

    By any chance do you know why?
