There was never a compelling argument in favor mixed lobbies. First, we were told, it was so that friends on different platforms could still team up. Second, which has never been stated but which is obvious, is the big benefit to the matchmaker when it doesn't have to split the base by hardware. I would say that at this point those benefits are long gone. SBMM in this game is already a crap shoot that will almost always assemble a lobby that ranges from legit newcomers to diamond tier players. Or, if you like, silver (maybe gold) to predator. In other words, the skill gaps are wide enough that it may be time to end altogether the pretense of sbmm.
So no, they shouldn't TEST separate lobbies. They should just do it and be done with the debate once and for all.
