Forum Discussion
@damsonwhufndthisThe ping has been discussed a ton of times on this forum. Physical distance to a datacenter doesn't matter much, since your ISP can reroute you when there's congestion along the way. That's how ping goes up do crazy values sometimes. In some cases it has happened for connections between 2 very close locations (geographically) to go all around the country or even continent.

I can't really comment on frankfurt servers as I don't play them, but London has basically been the same for me recently.
Whilst playing apex my ping jumps from around 33 to around 250 depending on proximity to others players. For me personally this has rendered the game pretty much unplayable due to my low tolerance for any form of lag. >.<
Kinda sucks when I've never had these kinda problems in the considerable amount of time I've played apex, and I'm playing on a much higher connection speed than I was originally.

I also noticed the huge lags in the last few days. Note: I always play on Frankfurt which is really close to me therefore I have only a ping of 20-30 at the evening, not in the afternoon!
But I do wonder why the lags are getting worse now even tho the last few season were quite the same and normal at the same time.I also played with friends who are based in USA but I couldn't even play normal because the lags are so bad that everyone is teleporting and I was getting dowsn within secs even before I knew what happenend.

@MadameRose66Perhapsy lot of Germans and close german countries play this game hence why Frankfurt sometimes literally goes out
- 4 years ago@MandatoryIDtag Your connection speed is not really relevant. 500 Mbit vs 100 Mbit don't matter if an app only needs let's say 10Mbit. Stability and routing are much more important. Also, the values given for connection speeds are only top limits (they are always advertised as "up to X value"), it will get choked down as any other connections when there's a congestion.
Also, there's something most people miss: the game is evolving, becoming more and more demanding performance wise. This affects clients much more than servers. I'm experiencing a lot more input lag and buffering delay than in the previous years. Unfortunately this can only be fixed by optimizing and upgrading the gaming rig - hayhor4 years agoHero@MandatoryIDtag You need to have a conversation with your new isp. One that involves "fix it or I'm switching back".
