Changing Ranked System

After being a die-hard player of Ranked since it's release, and watching many twitch streams of some of the highest ranked Predators, I think its time for the Ranked meta to change.

The highest ranked players are some of the most boring to watch.  They basically get loot and camp.

Trying to solo que ranked is also upsetting.  I can't teammates get a couple kills or assists early, then go camp in a hole until endgame.  Yesterday, I had a game early I was 1 and 1, my teammate had 3 and 2, we had an easy 3rd party to push, and I was left alone because they had zero incentive to get into any gunfights.

Why, for example, in Platinum, could someone get zero kills, camp to the top 4, and gain +8 RP, while someone who wiped a squad and has 3 kills, but gets 11th place, lose -6?  Who would you RANK as the better player?

There should be, IMO, no points awarded for placement, only a bonus for the winning squad.  Because I dont care if you take 20th, 8th, or 3rd, if you aren't the champion then you lost.

The current ranked Meta makes the game more and more boring to play the higher your rank is, because you aren't trying to gain kills or get in gunfights, your just milking the rings to mitigate losses.

Players should be awarded for High Kill games, honestly, who's the better player, one who gets 10 kills/assists but dies with 12 squads left, or the guy with one assist who makes top 3?  Because in Diamond, the first gains +2 rp, and the second gets +7.  Who would you rather have on your team?

The shredders should be ranked with the shredders.

The point system is honestly too simple to make.  You get RP for every single kill/assist, and if you win your RP is Doubled.  This incentivises both players to fight, push, and keep the game exciting, as well as a way to incentivise Winning.

Let's get camping out of Apex, and make the game as fun and competitive as it should be.

  • This feels like a weird way to necro a post without actually necroing said post. And your original post isn't hardly a day old either.

  • My problem would be, if you only make winning the only way to rank up. There's going to be so many players that hardly ever win a game (or feel like they can never win a game) that they would have no incentive to play and get better. Making an already dwindling ranked playerbase even smaller.

    @EpicSticks Thats because I quickly realized the feedback forum gets much less discussion than the General Discussion forum does, and I can't switch the original post over. And the idea wouldn't be that winning is the way to rank, its that kills and assists would be how you rank up, and just get a bonus for wins, instead of getting bonuses for placement. Because a player who gets 15th place with 5 kills deserves to rank up more than someone who gets top 4 with no kills.
  • @CocoaHyena  I would say top 3 should award placements points in your system personally.

    If you've created an environment where aggressive play is rewarded over camping, then actually making it to the top 3 isn't going to be that easy a task. That being said I wouldn't make the points awarded for placement particularly high,otherwise there would still be incentive to camp.

    Yes kills should take priority over placement but it needs to be done in a way that draws the matches out as they are trying to discourage hot dropping and having everyone get wiped before first ring which doesn't bode well for competitive games for example.

    Then again i don't see how camping and holding a position does either tbh, both playing and/or viewing. It's boring..

    @apostolateofDOOM copied and pasted to my original post. And yeah it makes it so boring. I think at a minimum they should at least remove the cap on the kill multipliers. So at least those who want to go for higher kill games and be more aggressive are rewarded for it. Because rn if you drop hot and say get 2 kills 2 assists, you literally have no reason to do anything the next 15-20 minutes until you get to top 3.
