Its perfect, that's what I said. And majority of player base agrees.
TTK is not gonna change, so keep crying. 😉
@BaldWraithSimp TTK has changed drastically since season 2, it was much lower than it is today - not sure if you really understand TTK so I´ll try to widen your horizon - when weapons are stronger, TTK is lower, hence when they nerfed alot - the TTK went higher.
If we compare the TTK from Apex season 1 - 2 with current, the TTK is much higher. And TTK is a subject of debate even within respawn - it will change, as it always have - it will never be constant.
So perhaps you need to keep to your own advice, if you did not like the TTK Apex had in its original form (from season 1-2) play something else instead of always crying about nerf this or nerf that.

@NitromethaneAPCan you educate me on what changed from early seasons to now to raise the TTK?
Yes I know evo shields were introduced but there have always been multiple shield levels. Now tho the shields dont depend on luck. Fighting levels them up.
Is there anything else? I'm not looking for generalized gun nerfs either. I want examples. Because I can give you guns like the TT and sentinel that had buffs to make them stronger. - 5 years ago@NitromethaneAP Absolutely correct. I haven't kept up with this thread. So as I was just reading page one, my thoughts kept going back to Season 2. In Season 2, there were so many options that were powerful and effective that it didn't matter what you picked up:
- Peacekeeper with or without choke
- Triple Take with choke
- Devotion and Havok with Turbocharger
- R-301
- Alternator with hop-up (cant remember the name)
- Spitfire
- Prowler with select fire
- R-99
- care package weapons (Mastiff and Kraber)
In Season 2, it didn't matter where I landed. I was going to get a highly effective option. In fact, there were very few bad options that I would just pass up. The variety was outstanding and allowed me to simply enjoy the game without worrying about specific combos and effectiveness.
TLDR - nerfing one gun is not the answer. We need a variety of weapons brought up to it's power level. - 5 years ago@NitromethaneAP Seems like TTK didn't change that much or atleast that's according to the TTK spreadsheets I found but then again they could be wrong.
Part of the issue imo is this constant rotation of weapons in and out of the care package. Mastiff should have stayed in the care package where it was highly powerful. LSTAR should have also stayed in the care package. They had to nerf them just to bring them out into the loot pool in the first place. I'm not sure they ever found a balance with them. Meanwhile, they replaced them with viable options like Devotion and Peacekeeper.

Clip size decreased, adding more recoil, decreasing bullet damage / headshot damage etc. You could straight up lazer an entire team with one clip with R99, or r301 - or wingman.
You also had a lot more weapons being viable, the devotion with turbo charger could kill 4-5 people with one purple mag (vs purple armor).
With the little recoil + clip sizes you usualy downed two people with one clip, that changed to now almost downing someone but having to swap weapons to finish that one guy (if they have good movement).
Also, Season 2 was before sniper rifles go their own ammo type. I never liked this change at all. It restricts options which has essentially shelved sniper rifles for me. Before this change, you could swap between AR and sniper without messing with your ammo inventory:
- G7 for light ammo
- Longbow for heavy ammo
- Triple Take for energy ammo
It's a very underrated thing people don't often talk about, but the ability to on the fly swap to a DMR without worrying about changing ammo types was HUGE. The flexibility that allowed in combat and different situations can't be understated. It also helped tremendously with the subject of weapon power and having viable options on hand.

Ah yeas, lets by all means bring back the old PK that could one shot everyone.
The low TTK is only advantage to people who can't hit more than 5 shots in a row, to be able to land more actually shows that you have at least decent aim.
Also reaction time is nullified completely if TTK is low and you get 1-2 shotted by enemy that made 0 sounds in game that somehow makes it that you hear people shooting 500m away from you, but can't hear wraith ripping a humongous fart in your face while they empty their gun at the same time.
The current TTK is alright, imagine this situation where enemies can never hear that you are coming and would be melted in 0.2s
- 5 years ago@KarvaRausku You're missing the point. The PK was but one of a variety of options that could beam you in Season 2. I don't recall it being considered OP back then either. It was just one of a crowd. Devotion and Alternator were generally the ones that got a complaint if any. But that's not even touching R-99, R-301, Havok with Turbocharger, Prowler with select fire, etc. A wide range of strong options will balance things out on it's own.
So many good memories of Season 2...still the best season imo. - 5 years ago
@KelRiever You do know that every game needs balancing right? Do you even play Apex? How can't you see that Mastiff was literally OP because you could take down an enemy with two shots? The only way you could counter that was to have a Mastiff for you too but guess what you don't always have since this is a BR and RNG kicks in. You can outplay an eva8 with an SMG or AR, but you couldn't do the same with a Mastiff (unless the guy using it is a complete trash player). Now this has improved and most of the times it will take 1 more shot to take down a guy with a Mastiff. And don't bring the buff all the other guns thing, what do you want? To one shot everyone easily? Giving them no time to react? You're forgetting that Apex isn't just about shooting but movement is also a major factor in the game, so you have to be good in both of these things to be a decent player.
Saying that Mastiff didn't need a nerf is just wrong and non sense, maybe you don't play the game enough to see how op that gun was.
- 5 years ago@NitromethaneAP The S2 ttk was alright and I definitely never complained about it which you keep on saying over and over like a broken record on repeat. The guns were nerfed because that's what the community wanted and it's at a much better place now. So ttk went from good to better. It's almost as if the game improved over the years, right?
- 5 years ago@BaldWraithSimp I find myself being much more selective now than I was in Season 2. Season 2 half the fun was what combo I was going to use that match. I had full confidence in a wider range of options.
- 5 years ago@BaldWraithSimp the game might have improved a bit, but the sounds sure hasn't.
@ArchAngeL.PCX There were plenty of complaints of peacekeeper, and it was the same lines as with mastiff. Shotguns simply are antifun to play against. Sure it can feel good when you 1-2 shot someone , but when you have yourself landed every single bullets and are denied your skillful play with something else than Kraber quick scope, it doesn't feel that you got out played. It just feels dirty.
Also alternator shield distruptor... For long time the "Pro" players said that it was fine, they also said that charge rifle was fine. Then after it become popular to use they started to notice that it wasn't quite fine at all.
And ofcourse they abused the living S*it out of them. - 5 years ago
@@Cross yes games need balancing but there are many tools for balancing. This game to keep has obviously gone foremost with nerfs far more than buffs and it’s gotten to the point than it’s really bad. And I do blame Respawn for rolling over. Players will always complain about what killls them.
- hayhor5 years agoHero@NitromethaneAP Clip sizes did not decrease that much and some guns have bigger clips now. This is not the actual information I was looking for. I want real data. Not some generality so you can claim you are right.
- 5 years ago@ArchAngeL-PCX I am only selective in ranked. Mastiff had no counter, so I run Mastiff in ranked.
In pubs, I run R99 /Volt/Flatline/Hemlock/R301/Volt/Spitfire. That's a lot of options.
I think to make energy weapons more usable, they need to remove the hop up system from loot pool and integrate them into guns like choke. - 5 years ago
I'm starting avoiding shotguns altogether. All except Mozambique because I find this weapon to be actually fun to play with. I feel those traditional shotguns being rather 'cheaty' in my opinion. And before anyone comes and says "That's probably you get killed a lot by it!" - Yes, but also no, because I also killed a lot with the Mastiff. A damn lot. Now it's EVA-8 that get's used a lot.
I'm not picky when it comes to weapons. If I find an RE-45, I take it. If I find an Alternator, I take it. If I find a Mozambique... Hell yes I take it.
If I find an EVA-8? I take it, find the next cliff and throw it down there.
Clip size did decrease alot. And everything I said was true and contributed to having a low TTK in season 1-2, if you cant graps that aint my problem.
- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@Cro_Pittt Ive came to terms with he does not play as much as some do to see the huge problem those of us who put in countless games see. Its almost as if he doesnt play apex hardly at all. Maybe he is one the players who has to use mastiff to kill people cause he cant with other guns. I dunno. Why i mentioned earlier do you even play this game? Cause he has no clue what he is speaking about.
@BaldWraithSimpIntegrating hop-ups would be a great idea. I think that would bring SMGs and Pistols not named R-99 of course back into the conversation as well as the Havok.
I mostly use a similar rotation of guns. The Volt has been a nice add, and I also will use the LStar. The biggest change for me has been snipers. I would mix them in Season 2, but since they changed to their own Ammo type, I haven't wanted to mess with them. - 5 years ago@NitromethaneAP R99 purple mag reduced from 30 to 27. Body Damage from 12 to 11. That's a 10% magazine size decrease, where is the 'a lot' in that?
@BaldWraithSimp that combined with increased recoil + and damage numbers being higher back than all contributed to the game having a much lower TTK than we have today. I think this is a pointless discussion, you can ask anyone that played the game back in season 1-2 if the TTK was the same as today.
Now do you know what the clip magazine changes for Wingman was? Or are you just going to nitt pick R99. Do you know what the headshot values was on R99 back in season 1? And with the low amount of recoil you would end up having like 60/70% hs.
Bottom line is, you could down two people with one R99 magazine, you could down 4 people with one Devotation mag (turbo) - you cant do that now. Do you know why? I´ve already explained it twice now.
@NitromethaneAPYes, ofc the TTK was lower , I have played since day 1. Red Evo increased hp by 25 also. That's a 12.5% max HP increase.
I am not going to explain changes to each weapon, I used R99 as an example. Only way to prove how much the TTK decreased would be to make a spreadsheet comparing old vs new ttk, problem is I can't find S2 ttk spreadsheet. - 5 years ago

E9 you won’t let go of your sensitivities I can’t help it. Nobody even said you are a bad player. But I’d bet you’d be better than you even are now if you stopped blaming the guns for getting yourself killed.
- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@KelRiever I am not sure where in the world you even keep coming up with this sensitivities stuff. So because someone speaks their own opinion that differs from yours verse thousands upon thousands who voice concerns about this gun via twitter, fb, instagram, twitch and more means we are sensitive? Im sure now you are just trying to troll.
