The latency issue was addressed in the known issues post of the legendary hunt patch.
Lobbies are not single-server only, so lobbies have players from different servers, for whatever reason, mismatches happened (and still do) between distant regions.
That's why you can suffer from latency even if you live close to your server (I live very close to my server in Amsterdam) and even straight up disconnect when entering a game (full packet loss) cause the game tried putting you in a game on a distant server.
Unfortunately still not entirely fixed ☹️
