Since they have started duos, the gameplay and behaviour of players in normal play has much much improved!
Very little leavers, much better matchmaking, no idiots!

I haven't seen anything negative come from duos (none of that teaming bs we had last year) so if they keep up whatever they are doing, it would be a nice welcome from me to have duos stay longer or perm.
I've also seen more teams working and communicating better, must be from seeing how bad 1 teammate (the only teammate you have in duos) can bring everyone else down.
As for the OP title, noooo.. this game was not meant to be played duos... it is teams still but 3-4 sounds more like Apex.
Respawn wanted players to be able to pick only a maximum of 3 out of the 4 classes of legends. Therefore, they balanced the game specifically for trios.
Duos is fun, but lacks the complexity of trios. The high chance of getting ambushed by the 3rd party makes it very hard to take control in some situations. Winning chance is reduced from 5% (1/20) to 3.33% (1/30).
I believe that a quartet mode would be unbalanced as well. Fights would last much longer, turning some areas into large battle grounds. Communication and looting would become more problematic than they are right now. Still, I'd like to try a quartet ltm.
I appreciate all the comments and thoughts, but I truly believe this game is better with a buddy and three is truly a “crowd.” Unless they implement a solo queue option, this game will suffer from those handicapped by who they know and who is online at the same time versus pure gunplay and skill. I have won enough rounds of solo gameplay to know I am a beast, but any time I queue up with dumb and dumber my skill only goes so far. Whether the devs intended this game to be three or more, they are still stuck to the rules of humankind, and I can safely report that most of you out there are awful to try and coordinate with unless we play many games together.... Not trying to fire anyone up, but just getting at the true weakness of “team play.” SBMM is a ❤️❤️❤️❤️-poor solution to the problem of truly coordinated teams playing against randoms queueing solo.
