EA Cuts Jobs at Respawn: 670 Jobs Lost

I just read a news article on the BBC today, "Star Wars game cancelled as EA cuts 670 jobs". The game is Respawn's project so I am thinking the 670 jobs are at Respawn. I question how this will effect Apex Legends? Time will tell, I am sure we won't get any news here until they yank the cord on the server. What EA told the press makes absolute nonsense.

Read the article and voice your thoughts. My hopes and prayers go out to the 670 former EA employees looking for work in today's market. Sad very sad.

@el7uarvszheo You realize you are taking about a game that dropped with no warning, is free to play and makes billions? Oh and they make the Jedi games which are considered top level games. I doubt this has anything to do with confidence in the studio.

@el7uarvszheoRespawn came to prominence & earned huge credit with the Titanfall franchise & merging it with the world of Apex to an extent & I did quite enjoy both of the Star Wars/Jedi games though both were buggy as hell.As someone who shares the same frustrations as you regarding Respawn's seemingly inability to fix many bugs & issues (is it ignorance or just incompetence) some of which have festered in the game since the early seasons I certainly believe Respawn's stock has dropped considerably because of it.Some say that Respawn lost a lot of it's original identity ever since EA's takeover in 2017-18 & the high turnover of employees with many of Apex's original devs having left for pastures new to other gaming companies since.

The high turnover of Resawn employees kind of reminds me of a scene from a classic 1980s-90s sit-com we have in old blighty called Only Fools & Horses.The scene is in a cafe with a character called Trigger (who lets just say isn't the sharpest knife in the cutlery drawer) where he's speaking to a few of his mates about receiving a medal for his job being a road-sweeper.Trigger claims that he earned the medal for saving the council money over the years where he claims to have had the same broom for 20 years.In Trigger's words "in 20 years my broom has had 17 new heads & 14 new handles" to which Sid the cafe owner shouts "how the hell can it be the same bloody broom!".
