@Koochi-QHipfiring was really hard to get used to after 2k hours of PubG (as my (almost) only FPS in past 2 years), but I simply had to do it to have any chance in CQC in Apex (and I mostly mean the completely-in-your-face situations here, that are very common in Apex). Winning a fight in Apex is all about being as mobile as possible (movement >> aim); ADS comes with a huge cost to mobility, so naturally you can't just ADS your way through any situation and expect to win (that's just how this game is made to be and naturally balance goes around it too).
As for poor extra-fat gibby, you can still melt through his gunshield and 200 hp with a single clip of R99, so it really doesn't matter if he has the shield or not, especially if he's just standing there ADS'ing.
The game never favors me that well with R-99 even tho I’m relatively good with that weapon. I’ve even had instances where I put an entire clip in that fat jebroni only to die and see that he must’ve had like 30 health left :P
@SethCurry, this is mostly the tactic that I use to counter him if I have space, but more often than not I find him indoors so that option’s out the door

@Koochi-QWell not using hipfire at all in Apex is very highly suboptimal style of play. Obviously the game should never be balanced around suboptimal play, so you just have to find your own tactics and plays against things that may be "OP" in suboptimal those misplayed played situations.
As for hipfire (if you're willing to get better) - just get a feel for the spread in training (and also the different hipfire recoil patterns for each weapon), so that you know the maximum effective distance for it (it's quite short, 10-20m max for most weapons) and just don't do it from further away. At the very least don't ADS, when the enemy is 1 meter away XD - even longbow can hit those shots (the hipfire is extremely random on longbow). As for R99, it's very hard to use without purple mag now (you really can't miss a single bullet), but it still pays off if you hit the shots. I generally prefer the big-mag heavy weapons nowadays (e.g., prowler+hemlok loadout) - way more forgiving and the dps is still fine (P.S., hipfire with flatline somehow feels weird at first (bullets seem to always "lag" behind and not hit (flatline's bullets are really not slow, so the effect has no explanation)), but it's fine with some practice).

I think gibbys ok, thicc boys are way easier to hit than a pathfinder or wraith... and i have to agree about hip firing, i always HATED IT with a passion but its almost a must in this game. Switched my think(which took a long time) and win way more close range battles. Guns are surprisingly accurate while hip firing at close range!
- 6 years ago@Biochemikas That’s true, if you never hipfire you can never be a true master of the gun.
Lolz 10-20 is where I use ADS since at that distance, hipfiring feels unreliable for me. I use heavy hitting weapons or fast. With the heavy hitters, that range usually secures me a win while ADS’ing.
Lolz the sucker who ADS’es from 1m away is... well a sucker XD. Unless the enemy doesn’t know you’re there or there’s multiple ppl.
Nahhh! I almost always hit Longbow hipfire as well as Triple Take but I love ADS’ing with triple take cause the base iron sight is so good xD. Don’t start badmouthing the longbow hipfire before I 50m no scope you! XD
