How to improve enemy visibility?

Just played a round on Thermal Station Arena mode, and it was super hard for me to spot the enemies. (1x Scope, 110 FOV)

Besides that, I also have problems shooting through smoke, termites or Revenant grenades while the enemy can always laser me through it. 

They don't have the golden scope ...
