@Godisbullen That argument is basic math. Each choice is a split. 4 maps would split a waiting queue in 4, which would obviously increase queue times. Off peak hours, the wait could increase more than 4 times for some players and make the SBMM which so many already complain about totally ineffective. This would result in a lot of players leaving, thus increasing the waiting times even further. Titanfall 2 is a good example, with so many interesting game modes that are ded because there aren't enough players.

@DoYaSeeMe I'm not suggesting map selection for all 4 maps, just 2. This season we can only play storm point and worlds edge, why not have map selection for just those 2 maps this season? With so many game modes available at the moment there's still barely any queue time. Get rid of arenas and give us map selection
- 4 years ago@Marge010 If there are only 2 maps you can select then I agree that it wont affect queue times. And yes I couldn’t care less for arenas too. I love how all the arena maps look, I just wish that it’s a different mode like TDM.
- 4 years ago@Marge010 Why remove Arenas? I like it, I play a lot and there are enough of others playing it. I prefer a different game mode to map selection as we have rotations.
@Cheese9Man, even with 2 maps things can take a dramatic turn. Let's say Map A receives a cool update making it way more fun than an older map B. Then Map A could take 80% of the players, leaving those who like map B with many times less players that we have now. With minutes of waiting followed by sweat fests full of veterans, Map B would be sentenced to death, but the problem is that map B fans would probably leave the game as well when the map is almost dead.
As for faster rotations to accommodate more maps, there are a issues. First, I think there are a lot of players that like playing 3-5 matches in a row on the same map, as warmup or to try various things. With 30 minute rotations you barely get 2-3, without even considering the longer waiting times between sessions. Second, I don't know how the server client works when switching between maps. It might load and unload each map geometry for each match, it might hold all maps geos preloaded in memory, or maybe each machine runs with just one map for a couple of hours or days, going offline when a switch is scheduled. Depending on how these map switches work on the server, having faster rotations and more maps could could raise serious technical challenges, making the game become pretty unstable and underperform.
