@DDSNG216what do you expect from a high-stress/tension game with a highly competitive environment backed up with numerous stats show-off ways like stats per legend or badges?!
The game promotes - game overlay, badges, youtube and twitch "stars" etc. - showing off especially with damage done and kills. And many people just by that s%$# and spread it...that's just how the psychology works.
If you would only have a badge which you get for 20 revives or all members alive at the end of the game scene would be completely different from the current where "the best" badges are 20 kills in a game or 4k damage in a game. But that will never happen in this game, too late for that. Plus people would find a way to farm revives as well :D I am sure e.g. leaving team to die and then running back to res them :P
Also you need to understand that many people are on edge while playing emotionally so they are not 100% sane when communicating. The same behaviour can be seen in sports when people are asked to comment a game during the breaks or at the end of it in sports - those comments are just brainless because all the adrenaline etc.
Just take it easy, mute people, don't argue with people who are not ready to listen to your point etc.
Finally, as I say - the more people, the more statistical probability of idiots to emerge. The game has 50? million player base...trust me if you would live in such a city and would be forced to engage with every person "on the street" you would realize that daily life is no different, the difference is only in the fact that on a daily basis we mostly don't speak, pay attention or have nothing in common with strangers yet here you need to actually teamwork with them.
My approach so far - communicate with people you can, provide fair and straight feedback, if they don't listen or trash you, just mute, do your best for the common goal, move on to the next game.

You sound pretty unlucky.
I've received a bit of abuse over microphone during play and the occasional message to "Delete Apex" but it's pretty uncommon.
I'm guilty of dealing out some abuse for teammates who ignore where the jumpmaster wants to go and lands on their own miles away (I mean, why bother in that case?).
People.

I was partnered with someone who's name was
"* you in the *"
If that's not toxic then I don't know what is.
I was going to report it but if that name is allowed to be used by respawn then why should I?
Toxicity really has kept me from playing much.
Good luck to you
