Kids spent my mythic shards…

…which I suppose I deserved. I got em just solo queueing since day one, finally was rewarded last summer with my red gems and was saving em for a Fuse or Vantage heirloom. And then, today, I saw my 7year old who just had his tonsils out happily twirling a kunai while running around the firing range trying to shoot his brother. A kunai - the pumpkin spice latte of heirlooms. The most basic of basic heirlooms is what my sucker kids spent my hard won shards on. Just had to share, cause my wife is looking at me like I’m insane (which, honestly, I feel for caring about video game money). Anywho, anyone got any pointers for grabbing mythic shards quicker than once every 4 years?

  • @nwsde2gr8rev Hey there, the shards are completely RNG. They can come anywhere from pack 1 to 500. Sucks that this has happened. But, you just got to play the RNG games again hoping for more.
  • @nwsde2gr8rev Lowkey this is where two accounts come in handy, forcing the kids to play the noob account so the good one is protected.

  • @nwsde2gr8rev I wish I could help you just for the Wraith heirloom reference.

Unfortunately heirlooms are rng. Sometimes they offer shards in the anniversary event.

Here is some advice below, you got lucky they only spent your shards and did not cause your account to be sanctioned.

    Protect your account from others.

    Account Safety

How to keep your account and hardware safe 101:

    1. Use strong passwords for you game account.
    2. Use strong passwords for the associated E-mail account. Keep track of your e-mail accounts and what they are connected to.
    3. Do not share either of these passwords with others. Keep note of your passwords in a safe place.
    4. Enable two factor identification for both the game and associated E-mail accounts.
    5. Do not let others use your game account (Friends and family alike) because if they do something wrong on your account it is still your fault, nobody wants to have a sanction on their account because somebody else did or said something wrong.
    6. Do not use internet café’s to access your account and play, you do not know what software is on the hardware there, you do not know if the hardware at the cafe has a hardware ban and this can affect your account in a negative way.
    7. I would suggest only accessing your account with your own trusted hardware, gaming on another person’s hardware brings some of the same risks as above.
    8. I would also suggest not letting others use your hardware in order to play with their account, because if they get a hardware ban on your hardware while using it, it can have a negative affect on your account.
    9. Buying used hardware comes with risks as well. The hardware could have been banned and this is not an EA problem but a problem between the buyer and the seller.
    10. Play nice with others, in other words do not de-mean, harass or bully others in Chat or over voice coms, both can be reported and that can also have a negative effect on your account.
    11. Use non-offensive user/gamer tag/club tags, if you get a warning about such change it, doing otherwise can lead to a negative effect on your account.
    12. Play fair, boosting and teaming are cheating.
    13. Play fair using cheating software or hardware is not fair and is really only cheating yourself.
    14. Re-read the Terms of Service agreement and the Terms of Sale agreement you agreed to play this game and adhere to it. https://www.ea.com/legal/user-agreement and https://www.ea.com/legal/terms-of-sale

About points 7, 8, and 9, I do know that not everyone can afford multiple hardware setups for the entire family and there is trust that has to be there, talking about the does and don’ts on the use of shared hardware should be done so everybody can enjoy what they do on the hardware and everyone can be safe.

Your pumpkin spice reference is hilarious.  I do have some advice:  Typically about once a year during Anniversary times (but not every year), a collection event will offer shards instead of a particular mythic item.

Save all your crafting materials and extra coins.  I wanted Valk's heirloom and was able to get it for around $70 during her collection event due to having saved up lots of craft mats and a decent number of coins for the bundles with event packs that are often offered during a CE.  I crafted all of the purple items in the event and bought a couple skins bundles that left me with onoly around 5-6 event packs to buy to finish the collection.  Bonus for me was that I really liked a lot of the items in her collection event, and still use a number of them.

My other advice is to watch out for large scale pack bundle sales.  I knew that I was at least 300-350 packs in toward the 500, so I got my first set of shards for a fairly modest pack bundle purchase.

And hey, it may perhaps be the most common, and I understand your disappointment, but the Kunai is still a pretty sweet heirloom!  The animations are very satisfying.

@nwsde2gr8rev LOL, dude...not laughing at you, just with you ...shaking my head in disbelief. It figures you would have waited that long

to get shards, and then have them spent for you like that. You just gotta laugh at that one !
I too had been waiting FOR EVER, to get the ever elusive shards. Was well over level 600, then account got reset to start back at "0" , now back at

lvl 236 and finally...FINALLY got shards just last weekend.
I think the rng caters to Preds, streamers and hackers lol. Like you said, a set of shards every 4 years is ridiculous.

  • You guys Are unlucky, i have 17 heirlooms and 3 prestige Skins. Once i opened 10 packs and got 2 sets of shards.

Yeah, exactly....so what do you suppose the difference between what you have done and what the minions who don't get anything is?
