This is from Mark Yampolsky's Q&A on twitter linked by @CCbathwater . @dSKyNafinchin
Q: Beyond awesome mode. Anything to prevent people from rage quitting?
A: Hopefully the mode is fun and pretty low stress to the point where people don’t rage quit. The matches are pretty quick too - most only last 10 minutes. We know how bad uneven teams feel in a mode like this so if you leave a good match early, we may apply a small leaver penalty.
Q: Weekly challenges?
A: Yes
Q: Trackers?
A: There are Control-specific badges for now. Otherwise, playing the mode will help you complete challenges and make BP progress like BR or Arenas. Loadouts rotate every hour
Q: So excited to be playing playing control mode but are we gonna hear our other 6 teammates or only premade squad?
A: Only your immediate squads of 3, we want to reduce spam and opportunities for toxicity. However pings and information from abilities will be shared across the whole team (highlights etc)
Q: wait do we start control mode with white evo shields and upgrade them? thank god that's relaxing that was my fear too but will we start with purple or blue shields tho?
A: We actually give you regular shields in Control. Evo shields were just a little too dangerous of a positive feedback loop which made high damage players with red armor a little too unkillable. You can find armor upgrades in care packages. Make friends with a Lifeline! You start with blue so that there’s a baseline TTK that feels good for combat (chances are you’re getting shot at by more players than usual in BR) Purple and gold shields can be found in care packages and airdrops
Q: Loba is now useless
A: Players drop their guns on death - so you can use Loba’s ult to pick up weapons to change your strategy on the fly or get crate weapons fast. It’s also a good way to restock grenades I’ll admit she isn’t super strong in the meta but if she’s your main she still has her perks.
Q: I didn’t see anything about healing ….is there auto regen ?
A: Yes! We're actually doing a combination of some healing systems you've seen before. Your shields regen over time like the auto regen in Flashpoint. Your health needs a syringe or med kit, but you'll have infinite heals like Winter Express, you just activate them yourself
Q: Is it gonna be three teams into one team? Or can we ready up with 9 people and go into a lobby?
A: It'll be 3 squads combined into one team. You'll be queueing with up to 3 players in your party
Q: I really wonder how ma girl lifeline works in this mode, like her care package. Also since no revive system and no supply bin she simply doesn't have any ultimate or passive ability.
A:
We wanted to make sure legend abilities have parity with BR so we're not giving legends new abilities just for the mode. To counter, we adjusted the loot table for her package. She always gets items that are useful in Control, and is one of the easiest ways to upgrade your armor
Q: Can more than one person on the same team play the same character?
A: So you'll queue into the mode as a squad of 3, and then get allied with two other squads. We respect squad rules - so each squad can only have one Mirage, for example, but other squads on your team can have a Mirage as well. You're also not going to be waiting for 9 players to pick a character. Each squad picks characters simultaneously (like in BR or Arenas). You'll also be able to change legends when respawning if you want.
Q: So it's possible to have a 3x continuous bombardments one after another of gibby/caustic/bang ult, or continuous rev ult, multiple blackhole, etc. Wouldn't having all 9 different legends be better? Also would BH/crypto/seer scan reveal to all 9 players? Or only per squad?
A: Yeah you can stack abilities if the timing works out, but earning ultimates is different in Control (it's linked to the Ratings system instead of Time).
