MODDED STRIKE PACK BAN

My first post was marked as spam. So heres a copy pasta because * are trying to keep it a secret from the devs or something:

Lately Apex has been nothing but infuriating for me to play. Doesnt matter the mode, im constantly running into controller players with near perfect aim and the game knowledge of a toddler. Now, i know for a fact i suck. I will be the first to admit it. I play with mnk on pc. Im low plat, hard stuck and its where i deserve to be. I know when im bested and just cant compete with someone because im just not on that level yet. Ive noticed a VERY SHARP rise in very low level controller players this past couple weeks though that just absolutely scrub the floor with me. Im talking level 38, bronze wraiths with little to no movement tactics. Upon watching them loot my corpse theyre completely still and take forever to loot. In battles they stand almost completely still and never take cover, only relying on their "aiming" to win the battle for them.

Its been CONSTANT these past couple weeks though. Almost every game im killed by what SEEMS to be a smurf but im almost certain its someone using one of these "Strike packs". Theyre usually used for adding rear paddles to normal controllers so you dont HAVE to buy the "elite controllers" for hundreds of dollars, which is harmless in itself.

HOWEVER. These strike packs come with built in mods that give the players that use them a very unfair advantage over most honest players. Recoil control and stronger aim assist are the ones i feel ive been running into lately because it seems like theyre "just good with controller" but their game knowledge and awareness tell me otherwise.

Ive noticed console players squading up with at least one pc player on ranked pc servers lately and i cant help but feel these strike packs are the reason why theyre playing pc servers. Its undetectable by software (currently) and is hard to detect by watching them after they kill you because, again, it looks like theyre "just good with controller." but their gameplay shows that theyre not as good as their aim says.

Usually i dont get too upset when losing. We all have those days where its just not your day in a certain game. Its been like that for the past two weeks for me. I play almost everyday, do warm ups and play with friends all the time. Im alright at aiming and movement in this game, about plat level. Im not the best but i know im alright at aiming. These controller players though make me feel like i have no chance. Usually im one clipped by someone i hardly had time to react to or theyre hitting me with every shot from distances i cant even see them at and its making the game extremely not fun for me to play.

Please, for the love of god Respawn, find a way to detect and ban players using mods on strike packs. Apex has been one of the only games i reliably fall back on when im bored of everything else and its sad to say that apex is getting boring now.

Hello, I thought your post was great, but some misconceptions though. Aim assist in Apex Legends to my knowledge isn't a point based system as COD: Warzone where someone can ADS (aim down sight) and lock onto the middle of a player's character. A generic terminology would be called "Snap-On" aim assist or something similar.

From my first hand experience in Apex Legends on PC with both devices, the controller's aim assist is like a sphere around every character and it just slows the aiming sensitivity down while in this dome (edge to center).

So my point is while these strike packs have the ability to macro ADS for the user, no one would benefit from that in Apex Legends.

I would gladly admit it if someone has a counter argument against this, but it's my understanding that these "Strike Packs" are nothing more than macro devices and can't directly add anything to the game, and just basically read incoming data.

If you do see someone directly snapping onto someone, I would think that's a cheater and just using a controller for concealment purposes. It's like people who use Seer to hide their Radar hacks, some cheaters use controllers for that same concept.

Don't get me wrong though, strike packs are an issue with recoil issues for sure.

I'm a strong advocate for players all having a fair playing field. My best advice would be to keep sharing input device lobbies or something. Respawn are watching aim assist right now with all the talks on the subject. Mouse & Keyboard only and/ or no aim assist lobbies might be a real thing coming.
  • @Popa2caps Idk if the "strike pack" brand of these contoller mods has an "aim assist function". I understand what you mean by the game locking onto the center of an enemy when ADS (i use to play CoD, kinda got boring after WaW imho bit i digress) and apex doesnt have that kind of aim assist system in place. However, i have seen a recent video on youtube about a "coronus (cronus? Cronos? Not entirely sure) that does have a built in mod that somehow uses the aim assist and makes it "stronger" for lack of a better term. Its a weird one because if the setting is too high on the mod pack, it will look like the person is micro flicking (a known aiming technique some legitimate pros use for those unaware). Its pretty easy to tell if a controller player is using of those packs though. The technique is really only viable on MnK due to controllers using sticks, making aiming more smooth than jittery. I need to look more into it to see what other common modded controller packs are out there but from my understanding the "cronas(?)" Is the xbox version of a "strike pack" which is for ps4 controllers.

Since its so hard to detect if someone is using one of those packs though, im all for seperate servers for different input preferences. Controller players (both on pc and obviously console) being on different servers from MnK players sounds nice. I honestly dont have an issue with legitimate controller players on pc servers on apex. Its the ones using these mod packs that i cant stand.

ON THAT NOTE THOUGH: I high-key feel the Apex devs (as well as many other online game devs) should allow the use of MnK on consoles. Its not fair that all console players only play with other console/pc controller users (if the input server splits end up becoming a thing.) I personally cant think of a reason not to allow MnK on console. After growing up a console gamer playing on controller and switching to computer with MnK, i personally love MnK SOOOOO much more. I feel it should be left to preference rather than force you to use one input style because of the machine you choose (or for some people, can afford) to play on.
  • @ButtCleavage Big issue I have with this post is it takes a lot more than a strikepack to implement anything other than no recoil. It is possible but requires modding the entire console and this usually leads to a console ban. The biggest reason a console player teams with PC is because they want to play with them. There are PC player services where PC players carry console players.....this is because it is much easier to cheat on PC. But I suppose if someone on console is doing that they may have no recoil too.

Big fat no to input device lobbies, until PC cleans up its cheating problems. And the no recoil cheaters, give them a 250.000 dollar fine like some kid downloading two Metallica songs. What's the next problem for King Solomon today?

SP tout a feature they call "enhanced aim assist" or "aim assist plus" or something to that effect. I have no idea exactly what is its mechanic, or if it has any value in Apex.
