Speaking as a Mirage main, I hope that the buff doesn't put him into Wraith/Path/Gibby territory. I feel his kit is pretty good already. If you can learn your opponents, the decoy ability actually is extremely powerful. I can't tell you how many games I have ran across two squads who didn't shoot at me until I was behind cover, simply because they thought I was a decoy.
These are really the only buffs he needs:
- He needs one more jump decoy. As it stands, his decoys only fool people in duos and solos.
- When a player shoots/damages the decoy, the ping that tells you where they are should last for five seconds.
- Add a few seconds to his downed state invisibility. You should be able to self revive with a few seconds to spare when downed. Those few extra seconds will allow you to find a safe spot to self revivie.
- Add a few seconds to his ult invisibility. World's edge is a larger map and his ult needs to be adjusted to compensate.
- Do one of the following to his decoys:
- Add a second decoy or lower his tactical recharge time down to five seconds.
- Add an decoy action wheel that you can select by holding down the tactical button for two seconds. It would function similar to the ping/quip wheel. The default action is the standard "run to a designated spot and look like you're checking your inventory" ability and can be accessed in exactly the same way that it is now.
- The decoy will start zig-zagging like a player if a player shoots at it and misses.
And also whilst i think his decoys could use a little buff too, you've already hinted that his decoys can be extremely powerful, so i personally don't think adding multiple ones that also "come alive" and start zigzagging would be wise, would surely make it too OP.
Here's an idea tho... (the variety of holos concept)
If you have say normal decoys, then maybe you have a decoy that strafes side to side at a window/doorway, one that zigzags etc...
The ones that offer more complex movement should result in much bigger cooldowns before you can launch another decoy.

@1ronKeys An passive buff wouldn't by any means make him immune to being deathboxed to be fair.
You would need to actually find a gold knockdown to be able to do that effective escape and revive and even then your would be killer would need to be distracted, even if you don't find one you still need your squad to either find time to revive you or eliminate the enemy squad.
A passive buff would just slightly up your odds somewhat.
- 6 years ago@MandatoryIDtag But the time self revives take are really quite long... to have the time to crawl 30 yards invisible. Revive invisible, then remain invisible is a bit much.
I like the idea of cloaked self revive. But would mean you need a Bloodhound as the only viable counter to it.
I'm in 2 minds, it could do with a buff, but even as it is now can cause enough confusion to escape or time for distraction that your teammates get an offensive advantage. Etc
Everything *has* an advantage, so you have to be careful with buffs... if you buff somethinf to remove its weakness, you also run the risk of boosting its advantage into OP territory.- 6 years ago
@1ronKeys But the time self revives take are really quite long... to have the time to crawl 30 yards invisible. Revive invisible, then remain invisible is a bit much. You wouldn't remain invisible after you were up though. The invisibility would wear off as soon as you were back in first person mode. Plus you can't crawl that far in the 3-7 extra seconds outside of the time it takes to self-res, but you could crawl behind the nearest rock.
Off the top of my head, the only OP play I can think of is a Mirage with a gold knock/backpack, who immediately pops their ult as soon as they revive. That's so situational that it wouldn't be something that occurs five hundred times a game, so I don't think that buff would be broken. You do make some good points though.
