New castle Vs Gibby

So both are big and easy targets and both got Fortified.

Both have shields: one covers all around you, won’t get destroyed and won’t move. The other one is an open half shield that can be destroyed but can move.

Both have special revive abilities: one revives faster in the dome, the other one revive while moving the teammate

Other than special revive ability, one has special personal shield 

one had a defensive ultimate outdoors and one has a defensive ultimate for both indoor and outdoor

Personally, I can’t see New Castle a match for Gibb; Gibby is the winner due to better tactical, better passive and very effective ultimate that only Watson can counter it. Half wall that many can jump or go around is something like Rampart in my opinion: just use grenades or your sweet kraiber and aim at it

    I wish he was at least a bit smaller so they didn’t have to give him Fortified, he is a big target unfortunately

    An advantage to Newcastle is that he’s better at holding down a building than Gibby. NC’s ult can close dow huge doors.

    A lot of people also didn’t know is that you can’t just hop over NC’s wall like Rampart shields. It has a stun and slow effect if you touch/hop over the ult.

    But as a Gibby main, I’m not switching over. I can see a lot of potential with this new legend since he’s not an easy legend to use.

    Other NC details

    - You can’t use the Octane jump pad while reviving

    - Crypto’s drone won’t destroy the ult but will only disable the stun/slow effect as I’ve mentioned above.

    - NC Ult distance (35m solo and 70 if you jump to a teammate). Technically NC’s ult can be used as an escape ability by ulting to your teammate if you’re alone or separated.

    @Cheese9Man I think Caustic and Watson are much better at holding buildings, they can use their tactical to lock all building while New Castle uses ultimate ability once to block a single door for just a limited time.
    Also in case of Gibby and if anyone entered the building bubble is much more effective than a half shield in my opinion.
    They keep saying he is good with effective abilities, but I really can’t see any improvement comparing to the legends we already had in game

    I don't get why people keep thinking NC was supposed to surpass Gibby, the reason he came before Vantage was cause devs realize was Gibby was being used alot in high play, so in hopes of weening some people off Gibby they pushed out NC. That aside, NC ult has better synergy with the set up defenses "Wattson, Rampart, Caustic" then Gibby can ever achieve when paired with them, so purpose wise they aren't meant to played in same fashion as "plug in this movement over that one."

    You are missing a point, yes New Castle might be a good match with Caustic, Rampart and Watson, but who will take 3 defence legends? Teams need a mobility + a recon + a defence to work.

    The reason people wanted NC to be better than Gibby is to see a change in meta, when Blood hound is better than Seer, When Gibby is better than NC, When Kings Canyon is a Ranked map after 2 years, people get board of the game… we need some change, we hope new legends bring a change to the meta, a new team combination… but it hasn’t happened in a long long time. Wraith, Pathfinder, Gibby, Caustic, etc we’re on top almost since 2019; Seer, Loba, Revenant, Rampart, Fuse, etc didn’t really change the meta or team combinations that much, specifically in Ranked

    Now almost at the end of season...

    Now that New Castle has the lowest pick rate among all legends...

    Now that Gibby had the 100% pickrate in ALGS...

    I just wanted to say: "I told you so!"

    I told you NC is worst than Gibby before the season even starts and many say so what? I said teams and top legends are all the same as past year, new legend has nothing new to offer, it will be boring, and you said "so what?"... well, the result is a season that all legends are the same, all maps are exactly the same and a boring game at the end...

    Just straitening some facts here. Gibby is only picked 72% of the time (not 100%), ALGS teams with NC (especially combined with Wattson) were very successful, and NC was picked more than wraith in the ALGS. 

    Of course I’m biased towards Gibby as I main him but no way means that lower picked legends = bad. 

    Aside from the usual Valk and Gibby picks, we’ve seen a variety of legends used in the ALGS. BH is no more replaced with Seer, much more Wattsons, Caustic is still strong. Furia even used Fuse. Seer and Valk are the only “ALGS meta legends” that increased in pick rate for the causuals post the ALGS.

    @Cheese9Man Yeah 100 thieves almost won with NC.

    I remember mostly threads about how NC kills lifeline which I argued against and told people lifelines pickrate would be higher end of season. I did not expect him to plummet this far tho haha
