@whatever77777777No, the game does not match "rookie" players with other "rookie" players. It does one of two things and I'm not sure which one it is yet. Thing one: it matches based on a hidden mmr that reflects your actual skill rather than the rank tier you happen to be in while climbing the ladder. Or thing two: the matchmaking is genuinely so close to random as makes no difference. During my brief run in ranked early in the season I was obviously in the rookie tier but the lobbies were consistently (yes, I'm guessing here, but it's an educated guess) high gold to low platinum. So was Apex telling me that after 22 seasons it knows that I'm a gold/platinum player even though I've never played ranked beyond rookie in any season... or was it telling me that it can't be bothered to find similarly skilled players and will just quickly assemble matches of whoever is available, with the greatest number of available players being from the peak of the bell curve, which is to say low platinum?
We'll get closer to an answer when we know whether you are completely new to the game or have played many seasons prior to this one. I know you've started in Rookie, but every single master and predator starts in rookie, so that really doesn't tell us much.
