SBMM and Smurfing are both separate issues and the same issue for Respawn to deal with, but I do agree both are serious problems. I’d argue that Apex would be superb if both these problems could be improved on greatly. Smurfing in ranked seems to be getting worse every season, it’s pretty crazy right now how many I see, feels like 25% of every lobby I’m in. I strongly suspect it is a numbers game for Respawn, the more they genuinely clamp down on the less over all players they have spending £££. Streamers haven’t helped in ranked starting the trend of Smurf accounts getting from bronze to masters in a day blindfolded with a wooden spoon up their arse whilst whistling Dixie. As for SBMM, it’s far to aggressive on the average players. My friends and I are above average gamers, we know Apex well but we’re old and our aim and movement is never going to be fantastic sadly, yet we get matched up with high lvl players all the time, and god forbid we struggle like mad for a win because the next 5 matches will be full of diamond, master, pred stacks. And that is from observing the same SBMM formula over years.
Well said and thank you for your response. I'm genuinely humbled to read responses like this. Seems like the newer generation kids have the one to two word mentality these days so I am glad you stumbled across my post. I'm also thankful to hear from someone who can identify these issues with the game and it saddens me thinking that Respawn isn't doing anything about it. Most importantly, it isn't a frustration only to me but for others alike.
I'm sure Respawn has multiple 'projects', plans of action and milestones making it hard to satisfy the community with unanswered questions specifically regarding SBMM and such. It all boils down to prioritization. If it doesn't involve money acquisition, I'm sure that's why the priorities are elsewhere.
I'll say this though and I'll probably create a new post elaborating on this but hopping on different servers helped me gain a better perspective on the state of Apex. I play on Oregon servers because that's the lowest ping available to me but also one of the most sweatiest servers. Recently, I've been playing on Tokyo servers and the ping is not so good. About 120+. Regardless, the experience is 1000% better than American servers.
We all know that it's a win or lose game, but the people you play with definitely helps with maintaining a positive experience. In Tokyo servers, (this might sound weird) people generally apologize when they get knocked as well as thanking you when you res them. That alone makes my day.
Most importantly however, is the combat experience. People tend to miss more in these servers. Not to confuse that with it being an easier lobby...it just feels like hardly anyone in Japan care to apply Auto Hot Key/Macros, Strikepack, Chronus or cheats in general. Not saying they do not exist, but it is not frequent like say Smurfs are 25-50% of the time in American servers.
American servers....well...being beamed from 300 meters seem like a normal day and that is the difference I've noticed between the two...
Thanks again for your response, @IdleHandsNo1
