Just because you can stim doesn't mean you need to use it every 5 seconds.
Don't stim too far ahead of your team, leaves you vulnerable. Again , don't charge at every enemy you see you'll have the same problem.
Do not pick up the gold helmet, you don't need it unless your squad doesn't either (depending on their respective legend choices).
Carry a larger shield to heal ratio, you regen does a lot of work over the course of a game.
Save your jump pad for when its actually useful, dropping it just to get a few metres ahead quicker is stupid.

@kakaci13 I'm not exactly an octane main, in fact i hardly play him lol, but another handy tip...
If you're shooting at range using a base iron sight or low magnification sight (1-2× etc) pop your stim and it actually adds an extra level of magnification to your sight for the duration of the stim. E.g iron sight becomes x2 magnification, 2x becomes a 3x, 3x becomes a 4x. 😛
Basically you learn a lot of things about watching your teammates play legends, identify what they're doing wrong and avoid doing it. Identify what they're doing right and emulate it.
@kakaci13Resident Octane/Mirage player here. I have no clue how to pick up a weapon, let alone shoot it, so I'm qualified to give these tips.
1) - As Octane, you need to win 1v1's. With any weapon. Whether is be a krabier, or a mozambique, you need to win the 1v1 against everyone else (The exception is gibby). You can play most characters without being good at aiming, but as Octane you are the frontline fighter. You need to consistently win the 1v1's or you and your squad will die.
2) - Do not use your jumpad to transfer in late zone, when there are 7 snipers aiming at you. Just don't. Use it to get to the third party, or get high ground. NOT WHEN YOU ARE BEING SHOT AT BY 3, 768 DIFFERENT SQUADS. YOU WILL BE PULVERIZED.
3) - Don't use stim in the ring, unless you have lots of meds. Should be obvious.
4) - DO NOT CARRY SNIPERS. If you carry snipers, you will be disowned by the Octane club. Carry a Wingman. A PK. A G7. Any AR. Just not snipers, as when you get to close range fights, you will be brutally murdered by the enemy team tearing you to bits as you reload your r-301 because you carried a sniper. 'Just don't play in close ranges'
Go play Crypto if you think that.
Hopefully I helped you become confused. It was my purpose, Now, I'm going to go back to running around in circles screaming my catchphrase.
#BuffMirage- @kakaci13 When you place a jumppad, run towards it, when you're in the air, do a three sixty degree spin (so a full spin). In extreme sport this trick is called an aerial 360 or just a 360. There a trick. Now a tip, try to land as much forward as you can, so you have the least amount of risk of injuring yourself.

#BuffMirage @MandatoryIDtag I would say that's the main points. I would add only that octane super effective in close range which means you need to carry two good close range guns or at least one. Best would be carbine +smg or a shotgun. Quick squad wipes always leads you to victory since you have a lot of space to fight other squads who's might be third partying you.
And always try avoid getting damaged towards health. Healing health always takes longer time and for octane it's even worse because you need health for your ability (stim).
