What’s your opinion on other games copying some of Apex’s game mechanics? From respawning, the jump towers and the most impactful of all, the ping system.In my opinion it’s okay to copy each other’s good game mechanics as long as they don’t copy too much that all the games look and feel the same. That being said, Fornite seems to be adding titanfall movement mechanics.

I guess it depends on what way they implement them.
Apex has copied titanfall guns. Even characters, can't say I'm too thrilled with that because those are characters and guns that make titanfall titanfall. There's a very "get your own" feel when it comes to apex and titanfall.
Movement is a bit different, everyone wants to be able to move faster and better and in unique ways.
Not sure how I'd feel about titanfall type Movement in Fortnite, I know they had to add some Movement stuff before for the no build modes and I can only imagine how players will attempt to build and wall run and the same time..
I'm not sure it's a Movement fortnite really needs or how well it will go. I don't know any 3rd person games that have wall running.
Double jump sounds good, thought they already had a jump a jump slide, I'm just hung up on the wall running and how it would work.

@Cheese9ManIt works for tech companies I guess *shrug*. But I believe Warzone has a ping system as well. But everyone steals in some way shape or form these days it seems.

@Cheese9Man I'm not sure if there is any innocent party here 😃 isn't everything built on the shoulders of giants.
I don't think there's any sort of copyright in mechanics, so isn't it s good thing that games strive to outdo each other. A better result for the consumer imo.
If only apex would be ported onto unreal engine 5.....

Though I think the main question would be how you would feel if other games did take things from apex and implement them, like fortnite is doing with titanfall movements.

@XxColdFangxX Yeah, that's even worse: Respawn literally has those mechanics in their codes and yet another game will implement them first? Wow.
I'd feel nothing, if a mechanic is good and successful then other games will copy it. It's been always like that in every era of games. Everyone started copying things Call of duty introduced when Call of duty 4 was released, multiple games copied the souls mechanics, and so on.
You know Apex should also copy some things from other games, like audio, game support, matchmaking, skins, if they are good. There's nothing wrong in that.

Nothing wrong no, so long as the game still feels like it's own game and not like a recreation of what it's stealing from.
I don't play titanfall to play apex.
And I don't play apex to play titan fall.
If that makes any sense.
Honestly in today's world, it's pretty much impossible to not steal from anything. When you think you have an original idea and show it to the world, someone is going to be "Hey that's from *insert ancient game no one has ever heard of here*"

If Fortnight ends up having Titanfall 2 movement I might actually try it.
