@Asmodeus566I know as much as you can't play with Silver or actually below platinum players at least in BR mode as soon as you hit Diamond (the only thing that makes me do it as I rather play vs Pred/Masters than with Silvers and Gold).
Also, your argument about 2.5% should not be valid if the provided stats by the official sources are correct (I have a feeling that someone is boosting their yearly results to gain profits) - 100 million of players 2.5% = 2.5 million, evenly distributed around the world's 24 timezones and Apex's 48 servers that still leaves = 2.5 mil / (24*48) = ~2000 players pers timezone per server. Go deeper into daily routines and say 1/3 plays during the day / midday evening / night and you still should get 500-600 active players = 10 full lobbies at any time any place basically. Clearly that is not the case so something be it stats or SBMM is incorrect here 🙂
Also let's not forget that Platinum players are like ~20-30% of the player base so above mentioned numbers should be so much more boosted given that Diamonds should be able to get into Plat lobbies if there is a shortage of players.

I absolutely have no problem with Diamond and above only lobbies or just Diamond only lobbies. I will never be that good and then I would never have to get lasered by them. The would not have to carry a predominantly Gold/Plat4 player.
You also have to consider in your math that not all players will be palying/queing up in the same game mode. Trios, Ranked BR, Duos, Arena and Ranked Arena. That would put you at about two full lobbies and well how many games start at the exact same time to fill you in one of those two lobbies. Wait time or fill with others it does not look like any other option.
- @Asmodeus566 sure thing, there are so many factor but Respawn should have all that data and share it (at least part) with us to answer such guesstimates.
Other than that I have no objections waiting for server to start or players to join - even in discord groups I now wait for ~5-10 min to get a set squad + 1-2 min till server starts when we are in the party, fine by me.
If I would be a Pred and had a squad (most probably earlier than 5-10 min as they all do as long as they plan to play ranked) I would be ok to wait for ~ same time as now in Diamond to get into server due to lack of players or just not play at all.
Basically, that was my point that Respwan either is lying about player base or tailoring SBMM towards Pred (and Masters) who cry about waiting time and to solve that "feed" Diamond or even Platinum players into their lobbies.
