R-99 is so overrated!

I've been grinding ranked / pubs through S7 and have to say that I honestly think the R-99 is one of the most overrated weapons.

Don't get me wrong, I have had 7,8,9 kill games with this weapon but IMO it's quite far down the pecking order for me in terms of a SMG.

1. Prowler

2. Volt

3. R-99

With the R-99 you have to have a extended light mag on it, if you try and run this gun without one you will honestly get in a sticky situation. You can get away with it with the Volt and the Prowler.

I would even go to the extent to run an RE45 over the R-99, I think its a much better weapon.

@rockyboy1998 R-99 is a risk-reward type of gun. If you got a very good aim, you will fry people. But if you miss your shots, it's very punishing. With Volt you can compensate as it has a slow fire rate and minimal recoil. And yeah, a mag is necessary.

I remember the first time I picked up R99 as a newbie the recoil threw me off. I just vowed never to pick that gun again. After that, I started running R99 somewhere in S3 and practised a lot in the range. Still not that good at it, but would take it over Prowler cuz of the hop-up requirement and Volt too cuz of 'I need energy ammo' situation.

@BaldWraithSimp Yeah I do agree with you.

I can use the weapon, but I honestly think that it just sucks compared to the other ones.

The Prowler is actually better in burst fire if you look at the stats compared to it with the hop up.

Every single time I have had a Prowler this season I have won that game, its ridiculously insane.

@rockyboy1998 I don't think you can count the Prowler this season because its a care package weapon. But I agree it's a better gun than the 99.

Volt is my go to CQC gun right now.

@rockyboy1998 I prefer the 99 right after landing, but switch for a Volt if I find one. After first few mins I'll try to find an R-301 to replace it, because more versatile gun. If no Volt, I'll go with Hemlok...

I riun dual 99. Don't run across me or ill show you how your thoughts of it being overrated are highly wrong. =P Darth can attest to my 99 shots even at distance. Best guns in game hands down. Just need to be in the right hands.

@E9ine_AC That’s really interesting. I remember I used to run a duel R-99 back in S3 but now I just don’t see the hype. I much prefer the Volt and in previous seasons the Prowler was my go to weapon!

@rockyboy1998 The volt is actually a tad stronger then the 99. Only by 2 bullets though.

While 99 would take someone say 8 bullets kill someone the volt would only take 6. It is 2 bullets of damage difference. Quite minimal but there is a difference in which is stronger.

@matzesingt Is indeed correct but by a minimal margin to even notice. Both offer quick-fire rate but for me, the 99 demolishes quicker close-up hip firing.

@rockyboy1998 A stock 99 with no mag at all can drop a fully purple person. So an extended is not needed to down someone in one mag on a stock 99. This can be seen in the firing range.
