Ranked Sucks!

@Flashshark1980 Ok, I sort of understand your complaints. I’ve been in that situation and yes it can be a little frustrating. How ever here are some tips and here is why it’s happening. I just made platinum last night and I did it by playing with randoms entirely.

The queue times for ranked would be insane if they did not mix ranks especially for gold. Ranked just does not have the player population to have only gold I players matched with only gold I players. So they have to mix all gold ranks. Yet even when they mix ranks the queue times can be take a bit. I would even occasionally get silver players. If you want to avoid this, make looking for groups and put together pre-made squads.

Do it on the US servers, you’ll find more people to play with. I frequently play with people from Australia. You should have no issue finding a few players who want to play Ranked with you at your level.

If you feel like you hit a plateau with your game play. Well it happens, but hitting those plateau and grinding through them is what will make you a better player. I’ve hit them to and yeah the grind to improving is hard. Try learning how to use throwables, work on movement while you are shooting, add slide, jumping around while reloading.. the idea is to make them miss more shots than you.

Some ways you can improve without losing RP. Jump into the firing range with your higher rank/skill friends. What platform are you on? If you’re on xbox add me, my user name is the same as my forum name. I’d happily play non-ranked rounds with you and try to see what you’re doing.

Movement and how you move across the map is one of the biggest mistakes I see players make. I’ll frequently get paired with randoms who go to high traffic areas with bad load outs. Maybe we all have white shields, maybe we have average guns. They decide to hit a choke point or something.. that’s just asking to die. You’re going to bump into squads with better load outs and be in a world of trouble.

When you drop you have to be aware of who and what is dropping near you. You can’t spread out much or at all. If you do, you’ll get melted by a squad that sticks together. I ran into this last night in platinum. My squad was going all over sky hook. We got picked off one by one, by a squad that stuck together. Me and the player who stuck together dropped 2 of them, but the third finished us off. If our squad mate had been with us we would have won the fight. They were not necessarily better players, but 3 guns vs 1 gun is instant death.

You have to be more tactical, when you see an enemy squad think about how you’ll push them. You don’t want to just rush them, look around and make sure you won’t accidentally give them high ground or some advantage.

Be aware of your squads skill level. If you’re playing with lower skill players that you’re carrying, you have to avoid choke points. Ya it’s not as fun. But it’s better than death and losing RP.
