[RE] Apex Legends Launch Options

Hello, I am sorry if this post appears twice, but I made a post earlier and it's not displaying. My intent is not to spam.
Anyways, to repeat my question:

  • Are there whitelisted launch options that are officailly recognized by EA/Respawn?
  • If so, is it possible for them to be provided?

I am asking these questions because I am a new player and am considering to play with a custom resolution for FPS improvement and just generally being used to playing with said resolution, however I am afraid of my account being suspended.

The reason of my fear is that I've seen other players alter their game and been suspeneded for just recently, whilst also hearing that there are whitelisted commands.

Hence, once again I ask if these commands could be put forth, provided such commands actually exist.

  • There are several launch options available for "Steam" and "Origin".

In the new "EA App" some of them won´t work for some reason (waiting for a statement on this one since weeks).

    You could try:

+fps_max (number) – This command will set a maximum FPS cap for the game.

+fps_max 0 – For an infinite FPS, use this command. (or +fps_unlimited)

-high – The game is started with a high priority.

-novid -dev - disables all Apex Legends-related entrance videos and cutscenes.

I´ve been using the -novid -dev and fps_unlimited for quite a while on Origin.

  • To add for ease of those who know the rules, the specific commands I am curious about are:

    +mat_letterbox_aspect_goal 0

    +mat_letterbox_aspect_threshold 0

    +building_cubemaps 1

Are you allowed to put these in launch options?

I don't think EA will officially endorse certain launch options, so it's not really that it can be said for sure.

If you can't change it in the in-game settings then it's typically best to avoid these options.

The options W3stminst3r has mentioned should be fine as it's simply just for performance or QoL related reasons.

I'm personally not that well versed with all these commands, though if your settings are purely for performance related reasons (And not to gain an advantage by removing certain textures/models) then it should be fine, though again, I can't really say this for sure.

These launch options are pretty much the same as certain performance configs.

Community Manager David has made a comment about the use of config files:

Generally it's not a good idea to automate movement, the general guideline is that one player input should never equate to more than one game input, and in general it's best to protect your account by staying away from that stuff.
For performance config, it's usually best to stick to the in-game options where available. General tweaks to improve performance should be fine, but if hypothetically there were a way to give an advantage (improving visibility by removing intentionally obscuring effects for example) this would not be allowed.

  • I see, thats unfortunate, I had been told there were whitelisted commands.

I will take the advice and stay away, however the function of my 3 listed commands according to the source I found them allegedly only remove the black bars when playing on a streched resolution.

I wonder why that isn't an in game option tbh.

I've done some deeper digging and it seems that some commands are supported.

    These commands:

    • fps_max

    • mat_letterbox_aspect_goal

    • mat_letterbox_aspect_threshold

Should be fine to use, though I'm not so sure about "building_cubemaps"

Knowing cubemaps, it's probably a command to just preload them, so this should technically be fine to use too.
