When your controller gets a lot of use, the sticks no longer stay in the center. Your character walks even if you don't touch the controller, there are also problems with the cursor to use the inventory.
For this reason there should be DEAD ZONE options for the Left stick.

There is a setting for mvmt stick dead zone. If you have set it to large and your character is still moving on their own, then you need a new controller.  This was the literal last straw for my first Scuf controller, it needed to be sent in for repair at that point.
