Re: disable shadows

@Popa2caps I'm not sure that quoting imperial hal gives you the good to go from ea.

I'm not using any form of scare tactics, just quoting from the ea tos, which is fairly clear and accurate, as against your hal twitter rumor, which is why you are asking a mod to help you out.

BTW changing files is not new to me as I was probably using computers before you were born šŸ˜›

    @OldTreeCreeper

    What part of the EA terms of service states one can't change the video config file again? So yes, I do consider what you're doing is a scare tastic.

    A) You have no proof of anyone ever getting banned, but use it as it's defence why not to do it.
    B) You have no direct knowledge of the ecosystem involved (being PC).

    The video config file is in the documents folder just so it's easily accessible for the user. Every single Apex Legends optimization video on YouTube uses this same file to gain resources for the user.

    I've been building computers since the early 2000's with the start of the Intel core 2 duo. I've also had a Steam account  since it was created, never banned (yes my steam account is over 16 years old, with not one strike).

    The point of the Tweet was to show the official support in the ALGS rule book.
    The code to the section is AB8.3

    Link To Rule Book

    Ctrl+F AB8.3

    AB8.3. Game Files Competitors may only add or edit the following Game files:
    ā— local.cfg
    ā— autoexec.cfg
    ā— videoconfig.txt

      Competitors may only add or edit the following lines in the files specified above:
      ā— fps_max
      ā— mat_letterbox_aspect_goal
      ā— mat_letterbox_aspect_threshold
      ā— "setting.csm_enabled" "0"

    @OldTreeCreeper I wouldn't quote too many things from imperial Hal. That guy is one of most toxic streamers I've ever seen, worse than the rowdy randoms. Anyone less famous would have been banned multiple times.

    @Popa2caps

    I don't need to prove that point, as getting info on bans is impossible, as you well know.

    I've been programming since the '80' s starting on a dragon 32 and built my own pc in the' 90's so I have a modicum of direct knowledge of the ecosystem involved, being pc.

    What algs, or hals tweet, has to do with ordinary players playing pubs and ranked, I don't know. Your assertion that direct consent to algs competitors, I have not read the algs rules, follows over to ordinary players of pubs and ranked is baseless.

    The EA tos is clear as set out above for you:

    When you access or use an EA Service, you agree that you will not:

    Modify any file or any other part of the EA Service that EA does not specifically authorize you to modify.

    While algs competitors appear, from your post, to have been given specific authorisation to edit, ordinary players have not. QED

    Just saying These files are technically not in apex game files they are stored somewhere completely separately so using common sense easy anti cheat couldn't detect it especially if you're like me and have them in to separate SSDs.  I've also been using this for over 1 year and only brought this up 4 months ago, I have not gotten one ban or warning in the game.

    My brother. U just linked and quoted an article for EA anti-cheat. A completely different and separate anti-cheat to Easy Anti-cheat, which is what Respawn uses in Apex. Config files are not a risk. Believe it or not, you can configure with configuration files without risk.

    @TroothGodSun šŸ˜ƒ the point is its coming, and the article outlined the efforts being made to improve anti cheating at a much deeper level. šŸ˜‰

    Is there an official response? I don't' want to lose my account

  • I emailed the ALGS staff (Apex Legends Global Series, official pro league by EA/Respawn etc), and asked if disabling shadows is allowed. Their response said that it is ALLOWED in even official Apex Legends tournaments.

    So I think it's safe to assume that it is allowed in regular play aswell. Even many top level players like TSM ImperialHal and others are playing with disabled shadows currently.

    While this may not be a public official response, at least it's something.
