It's cheating...your modding game files...it's against every tos and coc ever put on a game

Are you sure? Its pretty common to change your mouse and fov settings in the cfg files or copying your config file over after you have formatted...
I mean you would litterly brand half the playerbase cheaters.
Hey @Cabage__333
I marked my answer as solution for this. You can find the information you need in the EA User Agreement
6. Rules of Conduct.
When you access or use an EA Service, you agree that you will not:"Modify any file or any other part of the EA Service that EA does not specifically authorize you to modify."
Source:EA User Agreement
I don't know if this counts as official answer for you, but it's the best i can give you.
If you have any more questions about this, please let me know.
Zeelmaekers
- OK, I just curious why that answer accept by itself.

I can't help but notice official EA staff have guided people to modify these files before, so i find it very strange that its not allowed.
Hey @Pantleon
That is a different case and this step has been instructed by a EA employee to troubleshoot a game.
Every case is different and i'm not really the one to judge these cases.
I can only say that editing files to gain unfair advantages could result in action taken towards your account.

Why you are you marking your answer as a solution then? Am I not allowed to back up my settings or change my sensitivity in the config file? Thats basically what you are saying when you mark your answer as the solution.

The question is people can use config file to remove muzzle flash, there is no such option in game. config file should do same thing as a player can setting in game.

I have no idea how its done, I am just arguing that editing the cfg file is not cheating.
Hey
I don't recommend changing anything in the cfg files.
If you want to change settings, please use the options menu. This is also counts for mouse sensitivity.

I am not looking for a recomendation, I just want a proper answer from someone with the authority to make one.
You have slapped down your answer as the official solution and at the same time pointed out you don't really have the authority to answer the question which makes no sense at all...

The mental gymnastics are real. You are altering a mechanic of the game with options that are not available in the game setting menu. Why not remove smoke and recoil while you're at it. That wouldn't be cheating either in your book?
Just play the game as is with the settings provided. Why oh why do people look for advantages at every turn and then try to justify it.
Just don't do it and you're safe... but hey, you might get beaten by other players then. Can't be having that.
Idk what to tell you bro...the answer was given...if your modifying/manipulating/editing game files you are cheating...the settings which were intended to be adjustable are in the settings menu...if your adjusting anything other than that then you are cheating...period...
With regards to mouse settings I'm assuming your talking about sensitivity...if your talking about toggles or hotkeys or macros then it's cheating. Mouse settings are just sensitivity and keybinds.
If by fov settings you are talking about field of view settings like manipulating zoom beyond what is already provided then you are cheating...apex caps at 110 or 120 I can't remember off hand...if you changed settings to play at something like 150 then you are cheating....
If you change anything related to game play and mechanics OUTSIDE of the in game settings menu you are cheatimg

First of all I have not removed my muzzle flash, secondly i have already stated that i think it should be removed. Discussion is not even about that right now....
The discussion is with the solution saying that altering the config file is cheating, which is absurd. I fail to see how changing your mouse sens in the config file over the in game menu is cheating. It basically means you can't even back up your settings.
And if this is the case then why is there even a config file to begin with?

Many on the forums here have agreed this is cheating but you refuse to believe what other say. Maybe you should not be asking on this public forum and instead ask EA themselves. That way you can just argue with them.

I have already said two times I don't think its fair to be able to remove muzzle flash and it should be patched out as late as in the post you qouted.
However the discussion i have with zeel is about altering the file in general. Since he made it the solution in this thread I am discussing it in this thread.
But people seem to want to discuss a stance I have not taken and calling me a cheater for something I have not done. So I keep getting side tracked.
I'm not calling you a cheater.
I only say that its not recommend to change value's in the config files.
sillz was calling me a cheater
@Pantleon wrote:sillz was calling me a cheater
I was not.
In my reply, I meant "you" as in anybody who changes parameters outside of the game settings can be tagged a cheater and I agree.
You were fishing for an answer that had already been given. Don't change the config. You then argued against that, which provoked my response. You were sounding like you wanted to change things outside of the game settings (you called some of this absurd).
You seem to be tying yourself in knots. If you haven't changed anything great. If you do, you are cheating the system imo be that as, eliminating muzzle flash, recoil or adjusting your field of view or mouse sensitivity . You were looking for justification in changing them beyond what the game menu would allow. You had multiple answers here advising you should not alter configs but you persisted in challenging that. You then went off on one at Zeels answer.
Re read your posts. I never said you were a cheater, but you were pushing for justification for altering configs and were questioning @Zeelmaekers answer. It was pretty simple to grasp.
The title of the thread is in relation to MUZZLE FLASH and using config to alter in game mechanics.
I'm done. This is either lost in translation or just lost on you. I cannot be arsed, I'm sorry.
- What if you don't mess with cfg files, but instead use launch commands?
@Pantleon MY GOD..... I bet your the kind of person that walks into a supermarket and complains that the orange juice isn't made with real oranges and you keep harassing the employees who keep telling you its not real but you won't accept the answer.

You are clearly trying to push the narrative that I am cheating and at the same time saying you are not.
The sad thing is we pretty much agree on the muzzle flash, but you seem to lack knowledge about what the config file is and hence this argument. I have never heard of anyone reducing recoil in the config file I am pretty sure thats something you made up, i am pretty sure you can't increase fov beyond the limits and i am not sure why you would increase mouse sens beyond its limits.
And yes i find it absurd that I am not allowed to back up my config file for when i format my pc.

Why are there settings in the config file? Why is it in plain text? Why are most config files in my documents? Do you know if you can set fov beyond what the limits are in the game?
Can you answer any of these questions or are you gonna turn to ad hominem and carry out another personal attack?

@Pantleon I'm sorry. I think I have taken your questions in this thread, to literally in the context of this thread and it's title and not from your standpoint. I have assumed your questions were to lever the argument to justify altering muzzle flash.
I think maybe your questions would have been better served in a separate thread, but I apologise regardless, as I think I've got the wrong end of the stick. I jumped on my soap box of exploiters and cheaters.
My apologies.
"And yes i find it absurd that I am not allowed to back up my config file for when i format my pc."
I didn't read this before.
.......Ok now I'm accusing you. 😃 nah but hopefully you're aren't, because any exploiting has a nasty butterfly effect in-game with others. Both sides. An unfair victory is never earned and you'll improve at a slower rate.
