You're fine by killing a squad while you're fully armored but you're not okay if a random wandering 3rd squad joins in and gets you?

The armor system is fine.
There's nothing wrong with it.
There's just too many people just like you, who assume they always have to open fire when they see an enemy.

Shooting a random squad may attract more squads.
