Re: Only 18 Mouse Pros left until 100% are Controller

Nocturnal is an Apex Legends professional. He listed the last 18 mouse and keyboard professionals left in the game. If those 18 players swap, Apex Legends will have 100% of professional players be on controller because of how over powered aim assistance is.

His tweet on X

“Me (Nocturnal), fun, you (vein), teq, dropped, skittles, sweet, nafen (please come back i miss you), reps, xera, rkn, madness, timmy, zero, monsoon, ex100T” - Noct

I always find it hilarious about the amount of hate MnK players have towards controller players.

If its sooooooooo much better/easier on Controller, then stop complaining about it and switch.

The reason why is because, like a controller player trying to learn MnK, its not that simple is it?

If you want Controller nerfed into the ground, then fine, but they need to remove tap strafing and movement while looting from MnK players, you know, for "balance"

If MnK players are so angry that you can use controller on this game, just go play Valorant or CS

Half of the people on here wouldnt even be complaining about controller if they didnt hear "pros" whining 24/7 as an excuse as to why they were killed in a match. You are just parroting what they are saying without any experience. Because, as I said before, if controller was so much better, all the players using a mouse would stop making threads about it and switch

I agree with a whole lot of what you say, but I feel you sort of miss seeing why non-pro Mnk players don't want to switch, as well as a lack of insight into why they are complaining. MnK has a higher skill ceiling, and skill expression is highly valued and sought after by many players in FPS games. And it's a fair enough point, IMO.

Mnk players who do switch report a very wide variety of success. Some take to it like a fish in water, while others struggle mightily to come to terms with the input.

I can't really blame people overall for being upset at being forced to compete with multiple input methods. I'm a console player, and I'm quite unhappy with the recent MM changes that have been placing PC players in what are supposed to be console-only lobbies, particularly in Mixtape.  Some of them are just absolutely cracked, and feel very unfair to play against with the skill gap and their movement possibilities.  While others might have the movement down quite well, while demonstrating little skill at shooting at the same time. They tap strafe and wall bounce right into my PK reticle.  It's fun to beat these latter guys with just a bit of patience, and they earn a t-bag from me.   All of this overall gives me the personal experience to have more empathy for the dissatisfied position taken by many PC players.

I don't think that Respawn will ever limit play on PC to just one input method - they've made it quite clear that inclusiveness is one of their main values.  However, they have show more recent interest in looking into adjusting aim assist and other issues in order to make competition more fair.  So, it will be interesting to see what kind of changes get made down the line.

I sort of realized simultaneously that watching streamers play ranked has gotten boring to me, and that the constant whining and jibes about aim assist have pretty much caused me to stop watching the great majority of them stream.

Progamers in the U.S. as well as current progamers and former professional gamers in Korea have justified and analytically criticized the game's aim assist.

Are their legitimate and analytical criticisms just whining?

With Progamers in the game also now saying that aim assist is strong, your story will deepen the conflict between controller users and MnK users.

I don't like AA because I think it's too powerful, but I think it's more problematic for those who don't acknowledge the power of AA at all, but rather mock and swear at those who criticized him.

Even though you are a volunteer position in the EA community, it's really disappointing that you're talking like that.

  • @csj711

I'm going to assume you were responding to me. I think that's a weird take on my post, which was written to ask the poster above me (and any others) to please have more empathy and understanding about the issue from the point of view of MnK players and their experience.

There are absolutely streamers, streaming US ranked, who have basically made their entire personas about blaming outside factors on their losses. They truly hate the game and it shows. I stopped watching them because of their negative vibes.  One minute can't pass without hearing a snide comment about aim assist, and I grew tired of it, it is not entertaining.   Maybe you haven't watched these guys, luckily for you.  I think that's pretty simple and a valid opinion. You're taking issue with the wrong guy in this discussion, in my opinion.

I'm a console player and I don't care very much about aim assist.  I don't play in PC lobbies.  It can be removed tomorrow and I won't be complaining.

The only point is that the software is over tuned and aiming assistance is doing the majority of the work for the players that use it.

The game would feel better for everybody with lower aim assistance and removal of rotational aim assistance all together.

Aim assistance made the ALGS boring to watch. End games in the ALGS were boring to watch because of aim assistance, not the meta.

Without aim assistance the meta opens up. Players will start narrowly escape situations where aim assistance obliterated them in those same same situations.

A healthier game is better for everybody on all levels. New players will enjoy playing with their friends more when they aren’t getting one clipped. The game is stressful because aim assistance is aiming for players and it ruins the apex legends experience for everybody involved.

It’s always the console players and players with no tournament earnings who chime in with comments in favor of aim assistance. They have no idea what a balanced game looks like.

First of all, I am not good at English because I am Korean, so I always look at the ANSWERS HQ page using Google's translator.

If that translates your article into a strange content and I misunderstand it, I apologize first.

What I want to say is that the power of AA of Apex Legends is felt by many players (current and former Pro, Streamer, regular users, etc.), and we criticize the resulting loss of balance in the game. I've never seen a game where AA is more powerful than any FPS game I've ever played. Some games don't have AA at all.

But like @Grim_Tactics, a lot of advocates say, "If you're that dissatisfied, use a controller~! You don't like it? Then quit Apex Legends~LOL"

In fact, there are many cases of turning to pads or practicing on Twitch's Korean streamers that I enjoy watching. Among them is a famous former progamer. Watching those broadcasts, you can see how powerful AA is from the standpoint of progamers.

In addition, since most Korean users are actually more familiar with MnK than controllers, Korean users are overwhelmingly at a disadvantage.

And as I wrote back above, AA's power has a side effect of increasing the number of cheaters using converters...Even AA advocates who deny AA's power at all can think a little more about the seriousness of the situation if they play on the Tokyo server.

Some of the cheaters who love converters even say they are grateful to EA and Respawn for the current situation and mock normal users by saying that they love the environment in which they can use "legal cheat." I'm really angry.

But I'm not saying AA should be gone.

It's just that the AA has to be adjusted to the point that MnK users can understand. I don't think that should make controller users unilaterally disadvantaged.

If AA is deleted, more people will quit this game, and I don't want that. I just want a somewhat equitable environment.

  • @Tspin Nah console players disagree because their experience is drastically different from yours. There have been videos produced where AA is ridiculously strong and we'd all agree its unbalanced. There have been videos where AA has an incredibly weak effect where the idea of "tracking for you" is an absolute joke.

Because their experience is different they'll think you're exaggerating things and it's as simple as that.

Many casual players also don't care for the opinions of pros for a couple a reasons and hate the idea of blindly making changes for the 1%.

Feel free to disagree as you may be right but intentionally misunderstanding your opponents' arguments just fuels the flames on both sides.

    @Zamaha400

Those are videos from PC: 1) and 2) both examples when casual mouse and keyboard players say the game plays itself while aim assist players watch.

    2. https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/evvxb9/this_is_how_aim_assist_looks_on_pc_not_the_same...

Best player in the world collaboration with the best coach in the world and a pro player in 3, 4, and 5

    3) At 58:40 the group talks about how over tuned aim-assist is in Apex Legends

    4) At 00:35 the best player in the world and two pros continue the discussion on aim-assist

    5) Best player in the world, describing the current state of Apex Legends and what it’s like to play Apex Legends without aim-assist on mouse and keyboard

    5) https://youtu.be/4h66ZPuRXF4?si=QRvKLgO3wGimMT9b

And we can make this a full circle. All mouse and keyboard professional players have swapped and feel forced to swap to controller because of the over powered state of aim assist, only 18 MnK pros remain.
  • @Tspin The last 3 videos I've seen from the other thread but the first 2 are exactly what I mean. Saw videos like that years ago and if that's actually what you experience on PC then that's broken. I couldn't simulate that effect on console when I tried it out so I wrote it off as PC AA being stronger. Then I heard that AA was set at a higher value on consoles which was fairly confusing since I still couldn't replicate those videos when I tried.

Those first two examples are disgusting but they're hard to believe when I can't replicate it. Maybe it's a settings thing but I refuse to tweak those anymore unless it's for an experiment.

I logged onto both PC and console and it works on both platforms. Easily replicated. Seems like you have some other issue going on.
