You are absolutely correct one would be I know some people prefer not to display their number mainly the people who have high numbers like top 700's and 600's would probably look more atheistic and if possible this would be great for the older season preds to be able to display their number for example people who got like top 10 in season 15

So this is so that people can act like they are better than they really are and/or are ashamed of being Pred #749.

Well if that the reason I think and it is just my thought The number should always show. 

Not to sure but if should be ashamed or not but it will still be a good option to have

If you have the badge wear it proudly, numbers and all. That is not an easy feat, making Pred.
