I totally agree, I really think that he is bad at all. I think that his skill cap and play style are what is holding him back as well as being annoying for teammates. A good caustic is really annoying to play against and he is so dangerous in the ending of any game. The problem is that for pubs people want legends that are like wraith and horizon that are good because they can be aggressive and any character that is not like that is bad.
@hayhorI don't think he is bad per say, I just think he could be better. I think he has some clear cut weaknesses especially if you're trying to use him with randoms.
I have been in so many situations in which I have a building camped, throw a trap towards the door and it's shot out of the air by an enemy randomly spraying into the gas... When you're trying to hold down a building or area losing even 1 trap like that is absolutely devastating. It typically means running out of traps without the gas Caustic is just a bigger easier to hit target. His 15% damage reduction helps, but that advantage can be easily negated by the enemies abilities.
I don't think he always needs the gas. But when he does losing it is absolutely game over. It's some what frustrating losing your traps which took no or minimal effort on the enemies part. You also can't use the traps mid fight unless you've got some solid teammates who can cover you while you throw traps.
I feel the same towards Wattson and her fences. They are to easy to destroy. A few not so well placed nades or arc stars and they are gone. It takes forever to regenerate them and her interceptor tower does not have a large enough radius to protect them. I actually feel like her fences are even more useless than Caustics gas but that's another topic. I rarely use them defensively anymore. I only use them offensively now to control the flow of a fight and even then it's rare because throwing them down is a risky move. I typically do it when getting ready to push an enemy camping a building. I fence their exits..
