Reporting doesnt do anything?

Has anyone else noticed EA condones racist behavior? Idk about you guys but I dont condone Caucasian people saying the n word. EA does.

  • Hey folks,

Locking the thread here as the direction this discussion is heading is not appropriate for our boards and a number of posts have already been removed.

This type of language is not acceptable in our games, and while we do have various privacy/mute options that can be used after the fact, those options do not absolve people using this language of responsibility or consequences. It's worth noting the first amendment freedom of speech specifically applies to government (hence it beginning with Congress shall make no law), and in these situations player behavior would be held to our Rules of Conduct. There are many players outside the US. :)

Why would I do that when the first report didnt do anything?

To answer this, because it's always possible the individual that reviewed the first report missed something. Reporting via the webform would let our Terms of Service team know there was a mistake so they can take another look.

    Thanks, all.

Oh they most def do. I reported a player for their racist speech and EA responded with "our experts looked it over and didnt take action" they certainly do. Let's not try to tell me their actions are that of someone who doesnt condone it. If they didnt condone it, something should have got done period. You tried it though. Actions over words!

    Hey karenbesimmin,

We absolutely do not condone that type of behavior or speech.

However, if one of your reports was not actioned correctly and you're certain which one it was, please feel free to let us know through the webform here so our Terms of Service team can have another look. Thank you!

  • Brother, I'm half black half white. I'm super convinced that you don't even know what that word means. Like is one thing for somebody to say the n word. It's another thing for somebody to say it in a derogatory way. It's one thing for someone to say jokingly. It's another for someone to sit there and say it to bersmarch or demean a person. If it's used in a derogatory way to bersmirch or demean a person at that point it becomes racist for you to say it. However, it is not racist for someone to say it and an endearing way. It's the same way with people calling people c words in Australia. It's a terminate there. I personally don't think that there's any point in issuing in a ban to someone who isn't saying it in a derogatory or demeaning way. It's just kind of unfair. Not to mention it also violates the first amendment which is the freedom of speech. Just because you don't like someone saying something doesn't mean that they there should be disciplinary or lawful action taken on that person. Just because you feel offended by what they said. It creates a divide between people and it also creates a hostile environment. If people have to walk on eggshells around you every time that they're around you because they don't want to say something that's going to make you feel some type of way, then you're obviously not somebody that a lot of people are going to want to be around at the end of the day.

I think you seriously need to change your world view. Because you're kind of undermining people who have actually went through and actually dealt with actual racist experiences of people using certain languages and derogatory terms and slurs and not an endearing but a demeaning way. You're taking away the meaning behind that word and the significance behind it.

  • Just because you don't condone, it doesn't mean that somebody should experience disciplinary or lawful actions because they said it. It's one thing to say it in a demeaning way or it's another thing to say it in a term of endearment. If it's used as a demeaning or derogatory term towards somebody at that point, it becomes racist behavior. Anything else is not. And whether you condone it or not, it doesn't matter whether you're offended by it or not. It doesn't matter. And if you don't want to hear it mute. Or change your privacy settings so you can only hear that small little friend group that you have that are comfortable walking around eggshells around you.
