Although smaller than WE, Olympus uses more & higher quality assets and effects (more textures, models, sounds, environments, etc.), it is more condensed, possibly having the largest playable surface of all maps so far(considering all the underground levels and tunnels). Therefore, it puts more strain on devices, often causing performance lag when the machines fail to process the frames in time. This can open the door to a lot of issues: late updates (which might be considered lost if the delay is big), prediction errors (resulting in hits not getting registered, stuttering, rubber banding, etc.), timeouts (disconnections, teleports). It's not hard to imagine that, if many clients experience issues at the same time, things can get south pretty quickly, rarely ending up crashing the server.
It's normal evolution to have newer features pushing the boundaries a bit. The problem is that consoles can't keep up with how often things change currently. 6-7 years between generations is way too much, especially since they can't be upgraded, updated and tuned like PCs. Important mention here is that Apex released towards the end of consoles' generations, I'm pretty sure they will focus on the new generations more and more with the future updates, which means that things may get worse in terms of performance on older consoles.
@Lord_Scorpion34That's where the KF Console is aiming at, but I don't see how the price for what's basically a mini PC can drop from 2-3K down to 500$ or less, without some serious cuts.
