@BigMacAttack8u"matchmaking in apex is not what you think it is, from my experience it involves 4 factors. KD, level, pre-made? and gun preference."
My experience leads me to think there's more to it than this. My k/d is artifically very high, I'm a day-one player with around 19,000 matches, I almost always solo queue, and my happy load out is a c.a.r. and a charge rifle, and my win-rate is (just guessing here) above average. And yet I NEVER see these brutal, master/pred three stack lobbies that everyone is horrified by, unless I see them all the time and don't even realize it (which seems unlikely to me). This game mostly puts me in what I think are pretty low-experience lobbies. My teammates are usually fairly green, and my enemy squads are better, but only because the only enemy squads I choose to deal with are the ones who have survived to the end of the match. I'm not sure what any of this says about how matchmaking works in this game. There's definitely a pattern to it, but I'm hard pressed to figure it out. Unless the solo queue part is what keeps me out of the real trouble.
