"The problem with this is when you play it like a run and gun game you get no payoff for actually being good at the game even ranked you’ll get more from sitting and hiding all game than killing the whole lobby."
Let's take the second part first: "you’ll get more from sitting and hiding all game than killing the whole lobby." This depends entirely on the mood of the developer in any given season. Some seasons give what I would call outsized rewards for kills. Some seasons give what you would probably call outsized rewards for placement. Regardless of any right/wrong opinion on the matter, one thing I find irritating is the inconsistency in their approach. Rewarding one behavior one day and punishing it the next does not make for a good experience. I expect we both agree on that much.
Second part: "when you play it like a run and gun game you get no payoff for actually being good at the game..." I would have thought that pushing and dropping ten kills would count as a satisfying experience even if you didn't technically win the match. There are a lot of players who would consider a 10 to 1 kill/death to be not only outstandingly good, but also extremely entertaining. Take it from me when I say there are a lot of people in this game who die more ignominious deaths and definitely do not have 5-20 kills to show for their trouble. A lot.
I guess the biggest part of my frustration with your predicament is this: I could play every day for the rest of my life, I could practice in the range, I could aim train, what have you, and my mechanical skills will never rise to the level of even a 5:1 k/d let alone 10:1. But from my perspective the ONLY THING you need to do to turn your kills into wins has absolutely nothing to do with a crutch like the game pinging campers for you. It has to do with you learning where the point comes in each match that you stop running around like a mad man and start cooling down, getting a little more cautious, and thinking about how to make yourself harder to kill. But what do I know? Maybe that would be as impossible for you as better aim would be for me.
