Seeking tips for Ash's snare

How beat do you use this?

Deploying it?

Feels tricky to deploy... see as you need to throw it to the ground, and you are on the ground, it makes the angle really tight to accurately and effectively deploy this.

If you throw it past an enemy will it latch on?

Range

What's the best range to work this from?  Is it better to snare people at range or close up?

Any other tips tricks and advice for its use greatly welcomed.

I'm still in two minds about it. I love it as a concept, but just like her Ult applying it isn't so ideal, and equally... it still gives enemies enough space and movement to strafe and jump and evade shots as they would if they were not snared. So as long as one doesn't get scared and try to run away it's effectively useless.
