Watching conversations here and on reddit, it sounds like this season, at least, is extremely rough in the lower ranks.

I used to play about an even amount of solo queue and a mix of duos and trios with a duo partner. I've always found solo q a mixed blessing, I would get better stats but not enjoy myself very much. I had one session of solo q at the beginning of S11 and it was so tilting that I decided to not do it at all, unless I needed to. I lucked into my two duo partners having sufficient time to play between them that I dispensed with solo q entirely this season.
What I have found interesting is that I was able to maintain only just slightly lower stats than I did last season, without padding them by means of the easier, solo queue lobbies. I'm not sure how this worked. Perhaps it was a combination of improvement and somewhat more forgiving matchmaking?

Rolled up on by a team that literally didn't miss shots. We died in milliseconds. Was pretty much that same thing all the way into Silver where it got a little better.
The smurfing was absolutely horrible. No WAY real noobs are that good.- 3 years ago@HappyHourSumwur I agree ranked is way more difficult now compared to before. Smurfs are everywhere in bronze-silver too. Hope that they do some changes for ranked. I want them to increase the level requirement to at least 50 and have an overhaul of the RP system.

Honest question: Where do you think you rank in regarding skill in the ENTIRE community, percentage wise.
For reference, the average player is at the 50% mark. What percentage are you?
Furthermore, what do you think an “average” player’s performance and outcomes should be? The average player currently wins about 3-5% of their matches. I would argue that having a KD of around 1 is what the average player has. But the game is complex and overall skill isn’t directly captured by one stat.
I ask these questions to many people because it forces them to consider how SBMM “should” work in their mind.
I know people that think SBMM should be looser in pubs, where players of all skill play each other and the better players have better outcomes. Conversely, I know people that think that everyone should always and only play their current equal; these people believe players should all struggle equally at all times regardless of skill. What are your thoughts?

The figure for "average" KDR in this game is typically given at around .7 or so.

Ye if you was stupid enough to take a 14 day xmas vacation with the split and all you were shafted this season, when I came back there were smurfs everywhere so climb is painfully slow with my team, but soloing is still fairly ok though, seems like most smufs go with their diamond, master, pred buddies to make clips.
