Something is STILL wrong with console Aim Assist

I’ve spent the last couple of days intentionally focusing on Aim Assist (PS5), and the instances in which it fails. This involves putting myself in situations where I’m intentionally just aiming and not firing on opponents.

Every single match, at least once (but often more), I’ve found an instance where I ADS at an opponent and and there is literally zero AA active. As mentioned here before, this most often happens when aiming at Ballistic (I’ve even recorded this on my phone and shared it with friends, lol).

The issue here is muscle memory and consistency. I don’t care how you feel about aim assist vs MnK— having an in-game setting randomly change/stop working is a big deal.

Where is the commentary from Respawn/EA on this? Seriously.

  • @Axs5626Sxa5001 This is a weird coincidence but tonight I was playing with friends and was struggling. I noticed that almost every time I came to a ballistic it felt like there was zero AA. No slow, no rotational AA. I thought I was losing it but it's starting to make sense now.
  • @hayhor A friend of mine told me that what I was feeling, was Ballistic’s speed boost during his ultimate.

So we went to the range and I had him strafe as Ballistic without the ultimate. I have a recorded video where AA is working and one where it is clearly, undeniably off while aiming at him.

Can we share videos here from our phone? Or do they have to be uploaded to another site?

@Axs5626Sxa5001 I figured someone would say it was his ult. I remember one specifically that wasn't in his ult. And the thing is I'm the first one to say oh man my aim was awful but in this case I noticed I didn't seem to get any slow or stick.

As for your vid, I am not sure. All the ones I post are from YouTube.

@Axs5626Sxa5001 Great examples. There was another thread on here with good ones as well. It is very strange nothing has been said at this point. I wonder if it's not to scare people.
  • i have a hard time aiming in no scope with the shotgun the aim assist slows my reticle from going on target and seems to help them more than it helps me. i have to ignore and invalidate aim assist in my head and purposefully aim on target which is harder. ya.

Agreed. In almost every encounter I have, it's more of a hinderance than a help. I guess my mid-range playstyle has something to do with it. Who knows?
