Stop whining, start exploring and adapting!
It's pathetic, how fast you guys start whining about the new map, instead of accepting the fact, that changes can be a good thing. The dev's already confirmed, to bring back King's Canyon back at so...

Well the loot feels quite scarce on the new map, as if it's the same amount of loot in all that bigger area. But the main problem is that we don't know the loot spots yet, so looting is excruciatingly slow and many lootpaths end in a dead end XD (exactly the same thing happened in february in King's canyon). First step - find the purple loot areas, second step - find the guaranteed purple spawn points. After figuring that out, the game will feel a lot faster and we'll probably have enough time to collect enough shield cells and meds (so far this seems to be the major issue in most of my games). Also, I wonder if there's a different way to get a vault key than just from the flying boxes... So far, I haven't gotten it even once (3 golden boxes destroyed) and I haven't even seen the vault opened at all.

Most probably it's just "resistance to change" but well, I didn't like it much. Having so many open, wide spaces didn't feel like "former" Apex Legends at all.
I know it's just a matter of learning the new map and adapting but ok, I'm just sharing my first impressions.
I'll keep trying for sure, and I hope I like it. Let's see!
PD: Do you like Crypto's drones around? đ
@Fr3dY2Well we were playing gold games, filled with diamond players. I'd say that's quite a harsh way to start learning the map playing from a couch đ
I played a lot of crypto after you left and I'd say he's fun. Watching everything unfold around you. The one problem I found is that some of the teammates just kept leaving me behind and I was always late for fights... Crypto really needs a team that can actually wait for him, or the wraith needs to get used to always initiate a portal near crypto when going into a fight.
In one game i was left last man standing with 6 teams left and I just hid in a corner flying around watching them fight, like a TV show XD. I ended up being focused by both remaining teams when the final circled closed on an open area (well I did show myself too early since I wanted to get revenge for shooting my drone XD). But camping is definitely much more entertaining playing crypto. Pulling off a successful ultimate seemed easy enough for me, but it rarely worked vs me, since I almost always shot the drone before it could finish the ult. I guess the enemies didn't precharge it while going in. On the other hand, crypto can every easily FIND such rats XD. Luckily there were no other crypto's in that game, so I could watch in peace.I think he's a great addition to the game. Would be interesting to see what he can do to a wattson, but so far I haven't seen a single wattson on ranked on the new map (I've seen walls, but somehow neither of those wattsons reached endgame). The drone does clear caustic traps in quite large radius, so should work well enough vs wattson too.
@BiochemikasDamn locked legends đ. I played like 4-5 matches with Crypto greyed out, kept forgetting to spend those useless tokens to unleash him. Then tried to respawn @JjumpingJjack with the drone, haha. Note to self: next time, read the patch notes before playing. đ
I like how the drone feels and moves. Hearing enemy drones feels scary, but it actually isn't much of a deal right now, as no one knows the map yet and you can easily escape attackers đCrypto's voice is not very good though, you can barely hear or understand what he says at times. Overall, the new legend feels a bit too complex for a BR.
@DoYaSeeMe Oh now that you mention respawning, I totally forgot the drone can collect teammate banners (and I DID read the patch notes and watched crypto gameplay beforehand, so I had no excuse for that) XD. That game I was left alone, I could have totally managed to get my teammate banners in time outside of the zone using the drone... The respawn beacon was heavily guarded, so maybe that would have been for nothing, but really gotta remember that Crypto can do that XD. Especially considering the fact that drone doesn't even take damage outside of the zone.
Sure... I might not try again until I move to my new apartment, with a 500Mbps internet connection and a proper desktop. Playing from the sofa hurts (literally - both back and shoulder. Or maybe I'm just getting old) âšī¸
So, the drone keeps flying until shot down? No time limit for it? Sure, some campers at least will have some nice views while hiding (I've seen squad members hiding away from the very beginning until the end, doing absolutely nothing at all but waiting...). Do you think winning a casual game (not even ranked!) is enough reward to play like this?
I don't understand it really but ok, this is BR and everybody has its own tactics, even if boring as hell :D
@Fr3dY2 The drone can only fly if crypto is in it. Otherwise it just hangs where you leave it, marking enemies within 30m only (that's not much). Losing it hurts quite a lot, since cooldown is I think 40 or 45 seconds. And all that time that you have no drone, you can't even use the ultimate. You can also recall the drone at any time (don't need to enter it), if you think you may risk losing it.
But when you sit safely tucked away - sure, you can fly the drone forever. And the leash range for it is I think 150 meters (can't fly further away from crypto than that).
I don't think crypto increases chances of winning a casual game by much, since the info is only useful if the team can use it, and as we well know, casual teammates are not that teamy.
But crypto is definitely very fun to play, at least for now, so win or no win, it's definitely worth playing him XD. And you don't particularly need to just sit around doing nothing. You can also use the drone to quickly fly around and find some victims - it's much faster than just walking on foot and you also don't risk accidentally running into a 1x3 - all you lose is the drone.
It's also great to just check what's actually happening before going in for a 3rd party - you can hang it very high above and have a broad overview of the whole area, with ability too see any other teams incoming (you will have to spot them yourself though, drone won't mark em from far away).
