@Cheese9ManI stopped making comments on this forum because the matchmaking data I was sharing wasn’t cared for by the majority of the forum community— but I feel inclined to comment here on this matter:1) HUGE props to Respawn for even having a convo on matchmaking. Like seriously, I respect this so much. Lack of communication is a literal middle finger to the community, so this is appropriate and appreciated.2) Parts of this are— unfortunately, disingenuous.What parts? These:“We don’t purposefully put you in harder matches to slow you down if you’re winning a lot, nor do we intentionally put you in easier matches because you’re on a losing streak.”By designing their “dynamic matchmaking rating system” that is LITERALLY EXACTLY what they do. They 100% punish people for doing well, even in one single game. The algorithm reads your 3 kill 1st place win and the next game you are playing with people significantly above your skill level. Next disingenuous statement:“Either way, this is the system accounting for your recent changes in skill. This process tends to be slow, so you should only feel these changes from long streaks.”This is true for many accounts but definitely not for all. I have literally studied this across 20+ accounts and shared my findings (something I’m sure Respawn wasn’t betting on) and the results prove this to be untrue.Accounts with a lot of data that show that a player is above average do NOT have slow mobility down the matchmaking ladder. Win a game with just 2 kills and above 50% placement and the next match is right back to the top of the MMR ladder. I’ve literally tested this almost every single day for the past 2 years so I am going to need a PhD level argument/rationale to convince me otherwise.I guess I’m happier that they are addressing MM, but tightening of matchmaking in pubs for no reward is an ABSOLUTELY bad thing. People need to be rewarded for their proficiency, EVEN IN PUBS.Tighter matchmaking means more people playing their doppelgänger team at any given time, which results in outcomes being more similar for people, regardless of skill.Players who are more proficient should have better outcomes (wins, etc) in pubs. I’ll say that again: Preds (by virtue of their proficiency) deserve to beat players of my skill level in pubs. Similarly, Diamond-level players should have better outcomes than gold-level players.Tighter matchmaking and everyone breaking even feels super forced, curated, and exhausting.But the needs of the many outweigh what’s actually fair. So it is what it is. We should probably just commit fully at this point and have a system that does in-game adjustments for players performing too well or too poorly. So players on a hot streak should have their bullet damage decreased and their movement slowed slightly. We need to push for a system that results in uniform outcomes for all players.

Either that, or the pros have figured out a way to game the system.MM is broken both in BR and in Mixtape modes.Not even joking, keep having games where the MM puts a bunch of randoms together who can't even get more than 500 damage each against two full stacks of clubs. Games are going back to 50-10 blowouts again.Same with BR, where I get matched with TimTheTTVGawd0057Wraith who has more kills than I have damage on my entire account. Good stuff.

What i’m taking away from the article is that cradling lower skilled players to the detriment of higher skilled players is all that presently matters if not in a premade.Also, no concrete dates have been mentioned other than “early 2023” which means nothing when so many broken promises seems to be a reoccurrence with Respawn.

@Cro_PitttThat’s also how i’m reading it, which means if I perform well, i’ll be matched against preds, all the while having two ball in chain teammates.How did they think this would be a winning formula is beyond me, maybe because they assume everyone would play as a premade? Give me solos pls 🤣

@gokuzmajThe matchmaking is still broken & I'm convinced that they haven't implemented any of the changes discussed in their blog post. It is as bad if not worse than it's ever been.

Not even joking, keep having games where the MM puts a bunch of randoms together who can't even get more than 500 damage each against two full stacks of clubs. Games are going back to 50-10 blowouts again.

@LaughingSharko Can honestly say I thought it was impossible for the SBMM to get worse, and I crossed my fingers when they explained they were working on the situation to place people into fairer matches with more skill buckets available…..absolute garbage!! It’s worse than ever, and that’s a crazy place to be at. My average pubs game (as an average joe gamer/ getting a bit old) is apparently with lobbies filled with diamonds, masters and preds ( guess who wins) it’s sucking the last tiny bit of enjoyment out of what should be the best shooter out there. And hopping into the lower ranked brackets feels barely any different and I don’t even know how that’s possible ( less master/ pred badges but lots of lvl 50 ish players….wink wink) some other studio out there needs to give us a decent contender to Apex with good SBMM……I’m gone like a rocket!

what's the point of ranked if you're penalized for playing good rounds and rewarded for playing bad ones?
I really only play apex from time to time and am bronze at the moment, but get ranked with platinum players every round. However, cannot play with friends who are platinum. Sense?
A friend of mine gets bad lobbies every round as he's really no good (0.4k/d) and is now currently diamond just for playing for placement. As a diamond player, he has easier lobbies than I do with bronze!
Prior to this season, he just barely made gold 1. In summary, the developers have really done everything wrong that can be done wrong. Ranked is dead. Will only play again as soon as something changes fundamentally. By far the worst season!!!

Ok, the MM in ranked isnt that bad since i reached diamond/masters imho ... i dont mind that the games are very challenging at times ( am i the only one without a dive trail ? lol) but you dont get those 50kill teammates anymore ... and thats what i wanted from the begin with.
In pubs it is still the same as it ever was, 9 out of 10 games you get the low kill count casual that plays an incompatible playstyle to me (frustrating for them and for me) ... i dont feel any changes being applied there.

@Cheese9Man one thing is a lot of players start to rat at the start of the game, and griff other teamm8 so this system is * stupid, I just wonder what genius made it, can we have his name?

You get these extreme hardcore teammates (hooray!). Not that your direct teammates are that important on Control, but I still get MM'ed with them.
Then this happens...
Bro did like 10dmg per minute. In Control.
It's on Hammond, and you know how crazy fighting gets at the side entrance during the beginning of the match. Someone dies, drop guns, and bro just casually stroll out of the door, go to the guns, stand above them and look at them for 5-6 seconds, with explosions going off and bullets flying past her. Don't know how she survived that, but she did.
How does bro get in my lobby? Obviously it's someone who belongs in a completely different lobby.
PS. I lost my Wraith frame, or whatever it's called, that was one of the Play+ exclusive downloads for some season, when I switched to PS5. sadge

Still completely broken. I consider myself average at best and I get teammates worse than me continuously and then we get rolled by squads of inhuman death machines.

Between my opponents being significantly higher than me & my 80% bad teammates, let us at least have a Solo Ranked mode . Even if I was against 💎 players there I wouldn't be shaking my head everytime 1 of my team pushes alone or makes some other ridiculous decision.
